By the time we get to the polls on November 2, what do you think people will be thinking about when they get there? For the sake of argument, let's leave out those who are one party voters, no matter what. John Q, Jane Q, what do you think?

Personal safety/terrorism, economy/deficit, corruption, gay conservatives, dirty democrats, etc.

The thought occured to me as my heart skipped a beat yesterday when reading the headline about a small plane hitting a NYC building. That could have weakened some confidence in how safe we are all told we are due to all the new policies, along with North Korea, Iran, etc. Just saying the fact that someone can take off from an airport and just fly into a building has to give people a pause and a reminder of how fragile security really is these days. Recently, the lowered gas prices and better economic reports probably have tempered the negativity against the incumbents. The Iraq war probably will be top of mind, but that has been pushed back to page 3 lately with everything else going on.

Interesting to think about. And just think what we have in store over the next month and a half!

Chad Will be interesting--I think your voting out incumbents will be biggest factor.Lots of things going on right now that can have major impact in next few weeks.

If I had to guess when the dust settles that there will be abouta 2 to 3 seat adv to one party or the other in the house. dems will definatly pick up seats but how many??

To factors I think not accounted for in polls is those that vote in off presidental years.

I think majors issues as economy-war on terror do not come into play as much as items where people have ax to grind--ie war-ect--which should no doubt fav dems--Where surprise might come favoring Rebs is light turnout in off pres years is often result of many of the dems high demographical voters not voting in off year elections.

DTB Is right local problems are lack of push these election. Presidential in 08 will have different feel to it. I still stick to a government that is more equal runs better. And corruption is held in check a little better. I believe we are served better. I don't care how it's broken out. Reb's have Senate and President. Dem's have Congress. or other way mix and match how ever. But you see what you get every time one party has complete control over a period of 6 years or more. It don't matter witch one.

history has shown that the party that doesn't hold the presidency usually does very well in off year elections...& this year shouldn't be any different.

Who ever diebold wants i will side with them. What really bothers me tho is i see a few seats in my area that should be a complete destruction but the Dems are running thier campaigns like it is a joke. Its Kerry all over again. they are getting smashed all over TV and no response. Republicans i don't care what anyone says know how to run a campaign. Bush is a master at this. They just don't know how to run a country. We have a senator Santoruim who keeps pushing tort reform but his old lady won a big settlement years ago. the democrat mentions nothing about this. I like to know who runs the dems stink tank.

Hmm I see where Arizona tried to keep things straight and voted for ID,s when voting--was appealed by you know who-and was overturned in the infamous 9th district court of appeals where the 2 judges -one appointed by Clinton--and one Carter--said it was unconstitutional (can you believe that) next step is supreme court where about 74% of 9th districts judgements are over turned.

you`re in like flint....congrats...

looking forward to the compromising of nsa, data mining, the aclu run amuck(nambla absorbing the boy scouts of america....all crosses on military graves being removed and replaced by peace signs)......

more liberal supreme court judges...with more goodies like eminent domain....i.d.-less elections(will be nice to be able to vote early and often..along with deceased relatives, illegals and felons)...taxes up the ying yang....no drilling off anwar or our coasts...ever...

new, "fair" laws curtailing subversive conservative talk radio.....

reactors and aid to kim jung il...

equal rights and public trials with access to evidence for terrorists....

any hope at tort reform is scuttled...

subpoenas, subpoenas and more subpoenas....inquiries and hearings ad nauseum to embarrass and hamstring the president...

pelosi speaker of the house....conyers the head of the judiciary....rangel ways and means committee...

forget any chance at improving missile defense even though we need it now more than ever...

military cuts...

the call to prayer 5 times a day....

throwing open the border(but,in fairness, bush is doing a pretty fair job of that himself)....

and maybe a few positive things(this hurts)...

...might be time for the minimum wage to go up...

the opening up of the stem cell issue....

a possible legit effort at finding alternative fuels sources...

and maybe a heavy tax on importation of all chinese goods...we could use a little protectionism,imo....

and my favorite...the traitorous leaks from the cia and msm should dry up.....the nyt`s will, hopefully, start looking out for america`s best interests...
that would be nice for a change...

of course that will be offset by the gutting of our security....in the interest of theoretical civil liberties issues...without regard to the real and current issue of terrorists trying vaporize one of our cities.....

john howard....are you looking for a few good neo-cons?...at least until 2012?....

Have you tryed antipsychotic drugs ? I have been doing a little research for you and there may be help. The only other thing that I can figure is, you have been on them to long and that may cause hallucinations. Get a grip, get your meds checked.

Don't threaten what you're not willing to do. Freeze made a bluff about moving to Canada, now you're on this Australia kick. Don't get my hopes up if you have no intention of following through.

Whatever happened to Manson? Even that lying POS can no longer defend Bush. That is what happened to him.
