Hey Scott, since you consider Texas & TT "gimmick" offense, I guess you think the Ducks run a pro-style offense & that their little mis-direction tosses & double reverses & all the other tricks plays arent gimmicks at all cause they are in the PAC-10??????

Oregon runs the spread offense. This is the 1st year running it. Oregon used to be more pro-style offense. Remember, Oregon is not playing their starting QB. This is their 2nd string and he is a mobile QB so they are taking advantage of his skills. Clemmons was mobile but they would run an option every now and then with him. More passing down field with Clemmons. Oregon does run the ball.

Oregon has rushed the ball 395 times.
TT has rushed the ball 284 times.

Oregons strength is the DL, no surprise there. There weakness is pass D where they get exposed against Pac 10 offenses.

But still Texas is a gimmick O? They just arent taking advantage of the best running QB in college football like Ducks are doing??? I dont have the stats in front of me, but I will feel pretty safe in saying I bet UT has attempted more rushes than Oregon.

This seems a contradicition on your part due to one team being a PAC 10 team & one not....

The fact that UO has had a huge advantage in field position & a turnover yet only up by 4....no reason to jump ship yet....

Texas runs a high school offense. Nothing complex or sophisticated about it. It works because Young is a superior athlete and Texas more times than not has better athletes across the board than their opponent. Texas lines up across from you and battles it out. Texas doesn't try and out scheme you.

Thanks to Young improving himself, Texas has a passing and rushing threat. That is why they are #1 or #2 best offense in the country. Young plays a large role. That is why it is smart to try and stop young, and Texas O isn't as potent. Everything goes through him.

Hey, what Texas is doing WORKS! Not saying or implying it doesn't. It got them in the RB and chance at BCS NC. Now is it working because they faced inferior competition? We will find out on Jan. 4th. USC will not be inferior competition and USC will be well coached with a gameplan. USC also will not be intimidated. If Texas succeeds, job well done. Offense works! Hope you can get QB like Young every year to make it work. (it hasn't before)

USC runs a complex sophisticated offensive attack. On top of that, is very physical on ground with OL and White. Basically USC does everything well with great athletes AND trying to out scheme you. You go to high school games you see HIGH SCHOOL OFFENSES running the same thing as Texas. No high school runs the same offense as USC. A freshman QB can run Texas offense with much more success than USC's offense. USC has had tremendous success with 2 QB's in this offense. Next year we will see if it is 3.

All in all, it is different philosophies. Both USC and Texas got the same results this year in putting up pts in a hurry. Lets see which offense has more success on Jan. 4th. ;) Since most think Texas has the better defense, advantage Texas O! :)

I disagree that the UT O is a high school offense, but that is just one opinion vs another I guess.....the rest of your post I will say....

Fair Enough

Scott - Long time lurker... Just curious, how nervous are you having this much loot riding on the game 1/4? I know your posts do a good job (in general) of justifying your bet - just curious how much this wager is impacting your day-to-day life right now?

Thanks...

These teams both BLOW !! Oregon is lucky they get to play in this bowl. My first half over 28,never had a chance.

This is very surprising, I thought it was going to be a shootout, with APete running all over Ore. I give credit to Ore D but when you have a top 5 running back and you throw the ball 3 and out 3 and out 3and out over and over with a rooki QB, you have got to be wondering?

I think you calling Texas a High School offense is fine because you back it up. They run simple plays that work, and they run them extremely well. But to say that Oregon isnt a high school offense because they run the ball more than TT, even though Texas has rushed for many more yards and many more attempts. Sounds like your talkin out of both sides of your mouth.

I am the first to say you cant make much out of Bowl games. But when an Arizona State team that had USC down 18 and lead in the 4th cant even stop Rutgers and barely wins at home, and an Oregon team that lead USC into the 3rd Qtr cant even move on OU, it starts getting harder to not make something of it.
