I don't think 8 teams...out of 119....waters down the season. It makes sure that no one gets left out who is really deserving. If you get a 2-loss team in there, who really cares. LSU won it last year with 2 losses....

wouldnt the argument then be, from the would be #9, and 10 teams, questioning the validity of who deserves to be the 8th seed>?

I do understand and I think its a huge mess. I think Texas has every much of a right to play next week as TXTech and OK. It sucks.

I think the biggest thing is that why did Texas get leapfrog'd when all they've done is win and win big. I think they got jumped when Okla won big over TT and they did not play that week.

As much arguing as we've done, the whole thing is a crock and it really is a "mythical" national championship. Sad thing is, its all we got.

tball, is it really that big a deal? I hate when people use that logic. I mean, my god, if we let 117 teams into the playoff, wouldn't people complain about who should be 117th and 118th....

I think with 8 teams, you make sure to get the top 4-6 teams in and anyone who is not one of those doesn't really have a leg to stand on.

The whole system would need to be tweaked. No coaches poll determining things and teams like Boise or Utah might have to join a better conference or just accept that going unbeaten might not get them in.

Maybe USC too. ZING!

i absoluetly have no problem with near any form of a playoff system--truly. i agree. nothings perfect, no doubt, though this isnt them trying to be perfect now, so why not change it---the obvious answer being money behind the scenes.

more than the present championship game, i tired of the amount of bowls and hearing a mediocre teams fighting for whatever (6 or 7 th win) to make bowl eligable. theres too many bowls. not that i dont mind the action options, --cuz theres always a full bowl card to choose from--though takes away from the intensity of it all i think.

i would gladly give up most of these lesser bowls in exhcnage for less action to choose from, in onrder to make more a thing to cherish getting into--as some teams backslide at end of yr and clearly dont look forward to playing anywhere

thats just me though

I am not arguing that OU has a strong case to go as they clearly do and even TT has a minor beef.
I just want the above to be answered as to how OU is the team of the 3.
Harris Poll is Texas by a few, OU is 1 point ahead in coaches(thanks to the two idiots that voted 1 loss OU #1 over Bama). OU maybe better but Bama is 12-0 in the SEC and no one else in undefeated(that is a clear cut number for now).
Texas is #12 on SOS and OU is #17.

With all this info, how does OU get the nod is just my question?

Either way, OU is a very strong team and I give up on my beef. Even though I don't like OU, I do like the Big 12 so I want them to bring it home.

I am not counting on Mizzou AT ALL.

I think some of the computer systems put an emphasis on who each team loses to (Oklahoma to #3 Texas, and Texas to #7 Texas Tech) and also road victories against quality opponents (Texas has none, Oklahoma against #14 Oklahoma St.)
