Making some upgrades on the back porch and I wanted to put a TV out there. The kid at Best Buy tells me since the porch is covered a standard LCD TV would be fine.

Anyone have any suggestions? The TV wouldnt get wet but I am concered about temp changes and humidity. Not to mention bugs and stuff..

So will a standard LCD work or do I need to shop for an outdoor teli

Thanks!

Temp changes and humidity will get to it.
I have small TV for the porch 27 in. I have a mount where I can remove it and install it in less then 5 min. Don't watch to much TV on the porch. I just could not pay the extra $$$ for an outdoor TV. I know outdoor TVs have better a Contrast ratio. If you have a lot light behind the viewing area it makes it hard to see. However, I have a lot of shade so no issues here. Take a TV out there on a very sunny day and check the view. Just hook up a game system I know you have one. :0008

get a smallish t.v. that you can easily carry(flat panels are very light)...if you have cable just run a wire outside ...put a push-on adapter on the wire so you don`t have to go through screwing the cable in every time...

gotta mention that these laptops with hdmi and blue ray players are incredible....you just hook the hdmi up with your flat panel and you have everything from the internet available on your large flat screen(sports,whatever)....or just pop a blue ray in and you`re all set....on mine i didn`t even have to fight with it to get the surround sound system to work with it...just turned it on and it automatically adapted to the input....the only adjustment that might be necessary is to go into the control panel and change your default sound device to the hdmi input(takes about 10 seconds)

amazing stuff they have nowadays...pretty incredible...

250.00 OUT THE DOOR..

HAVE SAME MODEL AS MY MONITOR/TV in my office..

great pic and easy to move ...

has nice wide base as well..

really good idea by GW

my brother:toast: ....i couldn`t find a weight on your t.v.,but i`m guessing less than 20 pounds...so,considering the thin size,it`d be a breeze to carry(even for old farts like o.s. and myself).....

here`s another idea...might be far fetched...but you could possibly find something akin to one of those pizza carriers that the delivery guys use and leave it covered?....some kind of insulation that you could rig a velcro closure to?....

probably still be bad to leave it out in extreme cold and heat...

I just put a 32'' outside on my deck, bought a swivel bracket from best buy. I take the tv down after every use, takes about a minute.

Can I ask what kind of bracket you got? All the ones I have seen the TV is basically bolted in.

Thanks!

If you are going to do it, having seen photos of your home I would do the following:

Match the patio area with a ground level rectangular box. Think a little larger than the width of your tv and as tall as needed for adequate heighth. This will be your out door box to house your TV from the weather and elements.

Next, fit the "casing" with a servo sold off the internet with the bracket and tv.

Most servo remote brackets include the flip top that opens with a remote and raises your television to the desired height.

Sit back and watch your friends foam at the mouth over this reasonably inexpensive ($775 for eveything) home investment.

Works like a charm.

Let me know if you want the schematics.

For clarity, the top will need to open upwards. The tv is not included with the servo. Nor is the cold beer.
