WOW,

I can name a lot of teams that are glad they don't have to play in these confereces in football and take the beating all year. :mj15:

Not much of a beating when you play cupcakes for OOC and majority of your games AT HOME! Not to mention you often skip playing a top team since there are 12 teams in the conf. The schedules don't lie.

sorry but scott is correct

sec and big 12 football teams usually have 1 (2 at most) tough road games per season...but have 5-6 absolute gimmies at home

lmao whatever

SEC and BIG12 have consistently been the best 2 football conferences the last 5 years

Big12 has been top 1-2 in basketball 3 of the last 5 years and are right up there again this year

SEC had a down year this year in hoops and no one rated them as the best but still was very good with LSU, Fla, Kentucky, MSU, and Alabama as good as any 5 teams from any other conference

You could make an argument for SEC but Big 12 has been a joke. Last 2 years Big 12 has been the 5th best conf. in football. Nobody can argue against that.

Didnt Miss State just bury Stanford? Didn't UCLA get beat by Texas Tech?

Stanford was without their best player and game was close for 1st half. UCLA was a 10 seed and playing bunch of freshman. I had both losing in my brackets. No suprises. Arizona and Washington were the class of the Pac 10 and are still alive in the tourney. RPI had ACC #1 and Pac 10 #2. Looks like RPI is somewhat legit. :)

Every team has injured players... Good teams adjust - Pac 10 has two good teams that is it. After next week the PAC-10 will have no teams.

Give me a list of the teams that have their best player INJURED AND NOT PLAYING! Then tell me how many of those teams won their first round game! Otherwise, your comment has nothing to do with Stanford's situation. How is Stanford suppose to adjust? They hung with MSU for 1st half and got blown out 2h. Imagine the outcome if Stanford had there best player playing.

is there an "ignore" button?

How many PAC 10 TEAM HAVE PLAY FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPSHIP IN FOOTBALL IN THE LAST 10 TO 15 YEARS.

What is your argument? National Championships has very little to do with strength of conferences. This argument is about conferences. Conferences mean a collection of teams. SEC = 12, PAC 10 = 10, Big 12 = 12, etc. NC's only talk about 1 team in a given year. BTW, Pac 10 has been screwed over repeatedly.

Thats what I don't understand about Strength of Conference's. Is it based on Teams in the playoffs?...Teams that have won NC's? teams that have the best OOC record?...Everything is going to based on opinoin, there is no set up rules to which makes up a great conference. I will never fully understand the concept of one conference is better than the other. I have opinons on conference's as well as anyone else in here, but there is never going to be a clear cut 'great' conference.

BUT

the perception is as follows and it's treated as fact:

sec=great football, great basketball
big 12=great football, great basketball
acc=great basketball
big 10-solid in both
pac10-weak in basketball, weak in football

in my opinion, the big 12 is over-rated in both sports, their teams and conf AREN'T as good as they are percieved to be while the pac-10 is under-rated....

as for your question about football titles

oregon in 02 and sc in 03-04 both should have been playing in the bcs title game (not nebraska, oklahoma, etc)
