Heading to the city now....placd should be rocking .....tailgating as soon as arrive

I am 100% taking the bucs ML

I lost on them vs cards 2013 and was definitely on the wrong side

This year the team is so much deeper

I could tell ya anything you need to know about this team

Been to 20+ games each of past 5 years....watch every pitch....last years team was never a true contender. This year they are.

I know everything about Arietta that is being said.....I know what he has done....but I also know that buttholes much more accomplished then his have puckered under the bright spotlight that is the MLB playoffs....

Cole lives for this...as long as he keeps his emotions in check we are ok

If he gets us lead or tie and goes atleast 6 we are ok...i think he gives up 1 E.R

We need at least 6 innings from him...
Soria in 7th
Watson in 8th
Melancon in 9th

Best bullpen we've ever had under the Hurdle regimes

Before this year started.....

Arietta bryant baez russell schwarber soler coghlan...most ppl would have believed that those were all famous clothing companies.....the youth movement is great....they will be good for a long time with rizzo the heart of it all....but they are young/inexperienced

That doesnt mean they dont have talent. ...they just don't know what to expect

Never being exposed to baseball at this level is really a advantage or disadvantage depending which side your on...

Everyone is in awe with arrietta and the "2nd half" he has had....thats great and he was dominant.....but thats 2 months..he has tons of other stretches with mediocrity.....

My point is that all are human and mistakes are made daily.....ecspecially under the national spot light.

Ill take the home crowd

Ill take the experience

Ill take the SP who has more then a 2 month highlight film

Ill take the best player on the diamond (cutch slightly over rizzo)

Ill take starling marte as my game changer

Ill take the better relievers

Ill take the better closer

Ill take the black out

Ill take the better bench depth

Ill take the faster OF

You can have the better SP- if we are saying arietta is better......

Because I dont know if he is s better pitcher, or just a pitcher who is executing better currently.....with cole we have a bigger sample size...arietta not so much. ...cole was better the past 2.5 years....ariette been better the last 1/2 season....I dont know whos superior but right now arietta is definitely executing like noone else.....so he gets the slight advantage over cole

Either way you go, I hope its entertaining and exciting for all!

I like the over too

One other thing I keep circling back to is Jake Arrieta, for as great as he has been this year, is about a year or so from nearly being out of the game. He has certainly found something, but as someone who has played sports at a pretty high level, high pressure situations tend to drill down to core ability. Maybe his core ability is what he has shown the last few months, but I think that is far from a given. It really is an insanely good matchup though, so many possible scenarios could play out. The winner of this game certainly has a great chance to win it all.

Bombs - I had the exact same thoughts re: Arrieta. I guess 1 game won't necessarily tell the whole story - but to assume he will cruise like he did in 2H in a 1 game uber-high pressure situation is definitely not a given. For me, it was a no-brainer to take Cole at plus odds here.

I do love the winner of this game in the next series either way.

Yeeeaaaa I love me some baseball. It is my favorite of them all. (Which is strange because football is where I excelled most and played at collegiate level). I loved playing football....nothing tests your will lack that.

But baseball is to me the best sport around. I wish everyone got to experience seats at a game in an environment like this....or like 2013......nothing better

But im a huge pirate fan so im probably seeing through black and gold glasses

Buyer's beware

Maybe yes, maybe no for next series. Whole season I have thought Cardinals are trashy (and have hammered myself playing against them), but they find ways, and I suspect they will keep finding ways. I have never seen a team with this many injuries continue to win games, its sort of bizarre. They were essentially fielding a minor league lineup and had gassed arms for the last 3 months of the season. Betting against them has been bankroll suicide for years but I have not learned my lesson.

Just look at that last 3 game set in Pittsburgh. I didn't think they would be competitive in a single game and they went in and took 2 out of 3. I have no idea how they do it.

All about a mentality and culture

Starts up top

If you want a certain type of organization, you need to hire/sign the right coaches/players

Let the talented hot heads go elsewhere

Young bryce harper for example.

1 of 2 things would happen....

Hed change his attitude very quickly

Or

Hed be on his way elsewhere

They are the epitome of what a MLB organization should be

I'm on my way down as well.

Just heard the lineup. No Ramierz or Pedro. Jay Hay and S Rod to start.

Hurdle has lost his mind.

I can't believe this guy closes games. He was in Boston and couldn't even close games at AAA, brutal and fragile. Fans got on him and he folded like a tent.

Lots of nice stats but the most relevant

Jake arrieta vs pit this year
36 ip
21 hits
1 extra base hit (double)
3 earned runs

Sucks that these two had to match up this early in a 1 game scenario but id take artieta over anybody right now.

Like the pit team but they went full dbags tonight with their timeouts, stepping out of the box and then the lead dbags cole and Rodriguez escalate the bench clearing....both of whom were already out of the game......rodriguez showed that cooler who the tough guy was.

Nice season for pit and should be two good teams rivald for next few years.

Sorry about your team man.

You win 98 games you shouldn't have to face the future Cy in a winner take all game. They need to fix the format. Pirates deserved a series.
