Is it possible to merely open a P.O Box in Canada, use this as your new address, deposit funds in a Canadian bank and resume sportsbetting as usual?

Or do you have to become a legal resident of Canada?

You may be able to open a p.o.box with one of the border cities here, but no bank in Canada will let you open an account without a valid social insurance number, similar to the US Social security number and to get one you have to be a citizen.

Even the Internet banks here require Canadian Citizen.

Sorry.

here in the US in order to open a PO BOX you have to give them and prove to them your phisical address.

just move your funds to a different book.

1%, hard to believe i can't open a canadian bank account without living there. i can open bank accounts all over the world and not canada?

I just called a few banks. The online bank I use, Citizens bank, will not open an account without a valid residence, not a po box, and an account from another bank.

The main banks I use Royal Bank and TD, will not open an account without a Social Insurance number. The only way around this if you are a US citizens on a temporary work permit.

According to my Branch Manager this is because of taxation law here in Canada to ensure that residents are taxed properly.

The only way around that is if you know a bank manager they may be able to open one in person with your passport and other valid id's

I will keep checking to see what is possible with other banks.

The Canadian laws changes significantly after 9/11,
and the concern was over money laundering.
Even as a citizen to open a NEW bank account, the forms you have to sign now are unbelievable.

:scared the nazis are coming in G.O.P. uniforms:scared

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah. . .

Well you just wait
They'll find you yet
And when they do they'll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

Unbelievable, I cant believe its that hard, I guess 9/11 caused a lot of this to be watched more for money laundering.......I was looking at citibank canada and they asked for like 50 things from non-us residents, i'm not hell bent on doing this as theres so many books so i wont bother, but i was curious too, po box idea was a good one im surprised they dont accept ur $ and ask no questions, but im sure they got pressure to not allow that anymore

well i have a bank account in Italy (because i am from there) and you have to be a resident there too - although i am resident in the US, if you have a driver license, its really hard to prove you are not a resident....

but i am worried because i have read that Pinnacle will block US IP addresses, so having a foreign account will be useless...

well if they blocked IP addresses then it'd be impossible, why would they go through all that effort? I used to go there and just monitor lines sometimes, that would suck if you cant even do that, wow....I think the gov'ts in these countries are taking terrorism issues a bit too far maybe, rightfully so possibly to eliminate gangs/drugs/laundering, but canada is similar to us and surprised its so stringent........look fwd to meeting you in a few weeks out in vegas AL, I'm not a big talker w/ppl I dont know, but I'd like to hear some stories of your old NY days and have a cold one or ten with you....

NYSF - yes i agree it would be taking it too far but a person who called pinnacle this morning told me about this....i wonder if maybe using a VPN connection to, say, Canada would solve the problem and how hard that would be...

still would be possible. you can access the internet through foreign based IP addresses. its actually pretty easy. it look to the site like you are from another country. Problem is that it can be slow and you often have to try a few IP addresses before you can get through. But they are out there to be found and don't cost a penny. I watched some MLB.tv games that I got blacked out of using this method.
I don't know that its worth all the effort unless you are a true high stakes player and the savings in juice would be worth it.

I dont think this has anything do do with terrorism and everything to do with them not getting a piece of the pie.
