And your explanation for this year's cupcakes, which now in 4 responses you have ignored? I dont care about last year or last decade. What excuse does your wanna be conference have for peppering Cal/slash and Grambling and Idaho all over the OOC schedules?

Regardless, you bolded a whole 11 games - 1 per team. And 2 of the them are Notre Dame. And Air Force? Okie State -a team that finished 5th in its division? Please. You call that impressive?

You didnt bold Indiana for the SEC - a team that beat Oregon in Eugene?

Hey Sun...take your blinder off.....forget the teams in BOLD...look at the other teams.....

while the pac-10 plays mostly middle of the road d1 schools from the wac-mwc...look at the band of rejects that the sec schools play.....

it's amazing that you cant see that the basis of this whole debate is a joke......and that is that the sec is VASTLY superior to the pac-10.....the same Auburn idiot is touting that mid-majors are on the same level as the pac-10......however biased you may think scott is for USC, he has been correct the past two years; sc would have beaten both lsu and auburn easily; and he is correct in his analysis here with regards to schedule strength and occ.

The ironic thing is.....I firmly believe that the Big 12 is even worse than the SEC when it comes to being over-rated as a conference.....the QB play in that conference is generally horrible (yes even Jason White) and the bottom dwellers in that conf are terrible.

Throw all 6 BCS conf in a pile and i'd say the big east is 6th and then other 5 are about the same....but national recognition leads me to the following conclusion....the pac-10 is under-rated (since the pac-10 gets routinely dissed from a national perspective) and the sec/big 12 are completely over-rated (since they get pumped up by the national media as being THE conferences).

In the end, there are great teams from every conf, there are average teams from every conf, and there are horrible teams from every conf....just seems like the pac-10 has more balance as far as teams that are great from year to year, where as the big-12 and sec ALWAYS have the same teams..to me that means those other teams are horrible, year in and year out.

READ MORE CAREFULLY! :nono:

Wareagles data was since 1995! Re-read his post. :banghead:

I said I posted it last year and it was posted before the season started. Not posted after last season.

YES! If your conference gets more TV exposure, it will help players get drafted. Everybody in the west coast can watch SEC football at great times during the day. I watch college football from 9am till pm every Saturday. I love it. People on East Coast who LOVE to watch football might not be able to catch many west coast games due to difference in time and TV Exposure. Pac 10 has TV contacts with ABC and FOX SPORTS. SEC is shown on MULTIPLE channels. CBS, ESPN etc.

Of course NFL scouts will do their homework (at least you hope so) but your kidding yourself if SEC players don't have an advantage with all their TV exposure. Thats great SEC has good TV exposure. I enjoy watching SEC football, at least conf. play. OOC play is quite boring.

There is only one team on west that gets National Exposure and respect from east coast and that is USC. Take a look at JJ Arington at CAL. Not saying he specifically would have been drafted higher if he played in SEC but he is great example of a GREAT player who produced but didn't get exposure he deserved. He was a lot harder for the USC defense to stop than Adrian peterson who everyone hyped up and predicted to run over 200 yards against USC. I don't think AP broke one tackle against USC. Arrington ran over 100 yards against USC and only 4-5 RB's in the last 3 years have done that! Auburns RB's couldn't and they had 2 chances!

Scott I guess we know you have essentially no excuse for next year so you dodge it.

Gjn get off your high horse. Where did I tout the Big 12? But why let facts get in the way when you can make things up for me. All I said was every major conferenece has dogshit nonconference schedules. Is that really debateable? For any major conference to be critical of another on that count is absurd. They all should be ashamed. Sorry but playing fuxing Wyoming isnt much better than playing La-Monroe. A gimme win is a gimme win.

And Scott, for all the insighful things you do post, your last post may have wiped off all of them. You think NFL general managers are drafting guys based on tv exposure? Please.

What about these stellar "tough in-conference"wins? But USC would've definitely beaten Auburn??? The most dominant team out of THE most dominant conference??? :nono: I doubt it.

Scott, why does your signature only go back to 2000? When the BCS began in 1998? hmmm...that's a mystery.

Maybe it's because you know that the SEC has the most BCS Bowl wins period, point blank, end of story!!! But you want to keep that a secret don't you???

The fact is, I don't have to pick when and what year the SEC wins because we do it year in and year out!

gjn23, sorry about the comment with the mid-majors. Upon further review, I think that Conference USA and the MAC probably both had just as much, if not more, talent than the Pac-10 top to bottom last year.

And I love that one about the SEC getting more players drafted due to higher TV ratings!!!!

Are you kidding??? By far and away, the dumbest argument on MJ's ever!

READ CAREFULLY! I said it helps players get drafted. It only could help, it def. couldn't hurt your draft status. Think about. It is not a dumb argument. If you think it is, explain why its a dumb argument. If I want to be drafted in the NFL, would it be easier to get drafted playing in the SEC on TV in front everyone (east/west coast) or on the west coast where only half the country is watching? If you play well on national TV, you create hype. Even on sportscenter highlight plays. West coast players who make great plays will only be on sportscenter highlights late evening vs all the SEC teams who played earlier in day will be on all day. All I am saying is it helps. To support my argument, take a look at the Heisman trophy. Why is it only great players from USC win it but not the other great players on the west coast? Only USC.

USC 31, Stanford (4-7) 28

USC 29, UCLA (6-6) 24

USC played Stanford at the beginning of the year. Maybe you don't know this, but USC had a brand new OL, DB's, WR's, and backfield last year. NO returning starters at the DB, WR, RB and OL positions. USC went out and won a National Championship! This coming season USC is LOADED with experience and talent.

Scott, why does your signature only go back to 2000? When the BCS began in 1998? hmmm...that's a mystery.

Because it is my signature. :mj07:

Scott I guess we know you have essentially no excuse for next year so you dodge it.

You tell me. Post the OOC for SEC vs Pac 10.

Sorry but playing fuxing Wyoming isnt much better than playing La-Monroe. A gimme win is a gimme win.

Wyoming was a bowl team last year and hell of a lot better team than LA-Monroe. If USC played both teams, USC would have a much easier time beating LA MONROE but would prob. beat both teams. You forget, the Pac 10 plays on the road and playing on the road is always tougher than playing at home.

And Scott, for all the insighful things you do post, your last post may have wiped off all of them. You think NFL general managers are drafting guys based on tv exposure? Please.

Read my explanation above. I said it HELPS! Show me an argument where it wouldn't help a player trying to make it in the NFL. Look at all the hype A. Peterson has and the little hype Arrington had at CAL.

Thanks for the compliment! :)

The SEC has more BCS bowl wins than any other conference because it is the best conference.

The SEC gets more TV exposure because it is the best conference.

The SEC gets more players drafted because they have the best football players in the nation.

Good night

Hey AU2001....you're still an idiot and your post back that up.

Sun...didn't say what I did about the big12 in ref. to you at all...just a personal opinion on two conf that I think are good but not as good as perceived, thus over-rated.

Scott...stop arguing, the MAC and Conf USA are better than the pac-10, end of story.

I'll be interested in watching Auburn this year, I'm thinking 6-7 wins...(that's 3-4 wins after they get done with the...cough...tough...cough....occ schedule.)

I think the SEC teams broke even in their Bowl Games this past season. But they are still tuff.

Even if you don't think the PAC 10 is decent, one thing for sure is USC may be one of the most potent teams in recent years.

The Trojans put one of the most serious ass beatings i have ever witnessed on Oklahoma. Holy smokes--- " Oh The Humanity "
Oklahoma looked like the rudder stuck on The Bismarck.

Anybody like The Buckeyes to get to the big game this year.???? OHIO STATE has a big showdown with TEXAS on 9-10-05 .

The BUCKEYES are + 1000 to win The Ross Bowl.

Here's a long shot---Steve Spurriers South Carolina Gamecocks are + 8000............

scott, if you are telling me that a kid who plays for ole miss, miss st, vandy, or kentucky has a better chance to get drafted than someone who goes to USC or Wash because of TV exposure you are dead wrong :mj07:

TV EXPOSURE ON THE FIELD HAS ZERO TO DO WITH A PLAYERS ABILITY TO GET DRAFTED IN THE NFL

2 exceptions to the rule...ie Clarett and Mike Williams where TV exposure DID help them

I was even shocked the way USC beat OU. I expected/predicted a 7pt win for USC. I mean, OU had 10 drafted players + heisman trophy QB vs USC and all these freshman/sophomores.

You could argue last year was a rebuilding year for USC, as funny as that sounds. This season is where Pete Carroll finally has his players, depth, experience. This is Carrolls 4th year. Last year he had new OL, new WR's, new DB's, and new RB's.

I like OSU to win the Big 10. Ginn is awesome player and is like another Reggie Bush. I think OSU lost their defensive coordinator so that hurt. They also lost the most valuable player in FG kicker Nugent. That guy was money and won many games for OSU. If there offense clicks, they have good chance of playing in Rose Bowl!

wareagle

I'll say it again. I think it helps players get drafted if they get more TV exposure. What do I mean drafted? Maybe getting drafter higher than you normally would or maybe just getting drafted. If Reggie Bush played for CAL, he would not be getting this much hype. But if Reggie Bush played on an SEC team, he would because more people see him. When Reggie Bush goes to NFL, his "hype" certainly is going to help him get drafted higher in the first round. People might want to talk down on Bush because he doesn't carry the ball 20+ times for USC or isn't a BIG running back. But his "HYPE" will certainly help negate those negative opinions. He plays for USC, which puts him in the spotlight and he shines.

If Aron Rogers played for USC, I think he would have been drafted #1. Just my opinion.

I think hype plays key role. You create through exposure. You get exposure through television.

Of course scouts will look at video and combines etc. I am not saying "exposure" is the #1 criteria. I said it HELPS players get drafted. If you disagree with my opinon, then you must think TV Exposure plays NO ROLE or has a NEGATIVE IMPACT on getting drafted.

Here is another example of TV Exposure. If Joey Harrington played for USC and put up exact same #'s and wins, he would have won the Heisman. He plays for Oregon and didn't get the TV Exposure he needed. Now he got drafted high, but that is an example of TV exposure and time zones have an effect on a player.

Carson Palmer was drafted #1 because of the TV exposure he got at USC. Now he is great talent but only put up huge #'s one year at USC (mainly because previous coaching staff SUCKED) but his TV exposure at USC and the hype created had to have helped him get drafted #1. If Palmer played for Arizona St. and had same #'s would he have been #1 pick? Maybe, but I doubt it. He certainly wouldn't have won a Heisman.

Alex Smith played for Utah and was drafted #1 but this year was a POOR QB draft. But would Alex Smith have been #1 if Utah didn't go undefeated and got all that hype? I am not sure. He did impress at the combines but he also had a lot of hype going into the combines and that because his team was undefeated last year.

If Aron Rogers WR"s didn't get injured late last season and his team made it to the Rose Bowl and he shined, he would have been the #1 draft pick. That I would guarantee.

gjn23, it really hurts my feelings to be called an idiot by someone who is so well-respected around mj's.

Aren't you the clown that jumped in Raymond's thread around the NFC championship game, ranting about how he was wrong and the Falcons were going to clobber the Eagles, and talking so big about how much you $$$ were gonna make betting against him?

I thought I remembered you.

Oh, and then you came back on monday talking about how you bet 5 times as much on the Patriots and blah blah blah...

You are a punk. Plain and simple.

Scott, I did read carefully. You didn't just say it helps. You listed TV exposure as a reason (reason #2 I believe) for the SEC getting more players drafted.

And that makes you look stupid. Wasn't Jason White on more nationally televised games than anyone? Funny I don't remember him getting drafted...

Those were 2 reasons I felt why more SEC players get drafted. In my next post I said I think TV Exposure and HYPE help players draft status. Therefore, if the SEC gets the most TV Exposure, then that is a valid reason for more SEC players getting drafted. Remember, these are my opinion and I explained why I feel this way. Therefore, it shouldn't make me look stupid.

I didn't say TV exposure helps ALL players get drafted. I said it helps. You used Jason White from the Big 12 as an example. He is a great example of BAD EXPOSURE on TV. He took part in 3 huge losses in 2 years at OU. BLOWOUT loss to KSU, a close loss to LSU in BCS NC game, and a BLOWOUT loss to USC in BCS NC game. Thats not good TV EXPOSURE, especially when you put up bad combine numbers.

Matt Leinart has FLAWLESS TV Exposure but he won't put up good combine numbers. Wanna bet he gets drafted #1? In my opinion, Leinart's performance on National TV will help him become the #1 draft pick next years NFL draft. IMO, Carson Palmers FLAWLESS TV Exposure not only helped him win the Heisman but also got him drafted #1 over STUD QB's Leftwitch and couple others I forgot in that same draft.

Remember, these are my OPINIONS and I explained why I feel this way. I have not read a great argument against MY OPINION.

i'm waiting for you next to tell me how bad west coast nba teams really are compared to the eastern conf....even though you are in bed by 7pm west coast time every night......

yes, i had atlanta and yes i had ne for about 5x as much....thanks for remembering...also had sc for a truckload and would have bet just as much on sc had they played auburn...and still won....but who cares..

this debate was about the SEC being vastly superior to the pac-10.....totally false.

hopefully my sun devils can show the sec what the pac-10 is all about in death valley. It will be the first time ASU has ever played a SEC opponent. "I am a Spurs fan actually. I stay up late to watch them."

congrats...seeing as how san antonio is in the central time zone you must really be buring the midnight oil to stay awake and follow your team....my guess is your in bed by the time the games out here start, or at least in bed by halftime, which further solidifies my point......How can people from the east coast intelligently talk about teams/conf from the west coast when they rarely see them play?
