By far the most amazing golf experience of my life.
Pacific Dunes is a sister course to www.BandonDunes.com
We drove up the Oregon coast from California on the 101, through the Redwoods and such. We have still been traveling since pre Vegas :00hour .
Anyway, drove up to Bandon Dunes and played Pacific Dunes, last year it was rated #1 course in America you can play, and I see why. No carts allowed, caddies only. I got a smart young kid named Kevin. He knew the course well, and was VERY helpful. Helped me read putts, the whole bit. I have to say from the arrival to the departure, the entire staff at this place is one of the best I have ever encountered. Say jump, and about 15 people would ask "how high sir". Ate at Mckees authentic Scottish pub right on the grounds. Had a nice room with a view (kinda) of the course and Pacific.
Anyway, was paired with a nice man and his 5th grade son. They were a blast.Weather was overcast and about 55 degrees with a light mist and fog, JUST like Scotland! You could see the ball for about 180 yards, but couldn't see it land most times. I had to trust my yardage book and caddie for things to aim at. I sure got some great bounces thanks to his local knowledge! I hit one shot on a par 3 40 yards right of the pin, (30 yds right of the green!) and when we arrived at the hole, there was my ball, about 8 ft for birdie! I birdied #1 and #3, and got to 2 under, and had visions of something special, but in the end the greens were too much for my rusty game. I got on the wrong side of a few pins and the result was an ugly 5 3-putts, and a retarded double bogey leading me to a 79 (37-42). If anyone EVER gets the chance, you cannot pass up the opportunity to play this place, I know I will go back!! Room $125, Golf $90, Yardage book $8, caddie $55 ($45 tip)=$100, views = PRICELE$$:00hour
Where the fawk do I hit it?
