Carolina +7 1/2

I absolutely love this play. My only fear has been eliminated. I was originally worried that the Panthers would have trouble playing catch-up if they fall behind. However, Delhomme's recent play has encouraged me. He is playing much better than any guy who was once stuck behind Rodney Peete on the depth chart ever should. Stephen Davis is healthy and running like Spurrier said he never would agian. The Carolina receivers are playing well and their defense looks great right now. My only worry now is their somewhat suspect secondary, which could be abused. However, I think their run-stuffing ablility and speed up front will carry them to a cover, if not a victory.

Carolina +7 1/2 4 Units

St. Louis/ Carolina under 1 Unit

Carolina +270 1 Unit

Any concerns about their secondary???

I just hate the fact that the Rams are bred for speed on offense and they are always on the break so to speak on that carpet. Like the points and that defense, but am not convinced that they can run up and down the field with Holt and Bruce.

Only real concern is their secondary. But, gotta believe the front 4 will apply enough pressure so that Bulger will make at least 1 big mistake. They may struggle against those quick-hits that the Rams run, but I just think Bulger makes at least one careless throw.

GL whatever you play,

Yeah, I like that Bulger tends to buckle under the pressure, which the Panthers front 4 should provide. Undecided on this play right now, could see it go either way.

GL this weekend.

Obviously, this is a much bigger game and a much different situation. On the down side, St. Louis did cover this number in 6 of 8 home games. However, Carolina has covered this # in all 8 of their road games. The only two times they failed to cover this # were bad home losses to Tennessee and Philly. Of course, they haven't played St. Louis, but I still really like their chances.

hey slick:

Long time no see. Good to see ya around again.
I agree that Carolina can upset an offense primarily based
timing.Their error free game last week suggests a very
focused team.Playing them straight up and teasing them to
+14 and under 51'

Folks, in case you don't know slick is very sharp.LISTEN to him

Cash,

Thanks for the kind words. However, while I opened my MJ's account three years ago, I never posted 'til two days ago. You must have me confused with someone else. I appreciate it, though. Hope the Cats get it done for us. As long as Delhomme and Davis take care of the ball, I believe they will.

In an interview w/John Fox, he addressed the Rams fast WR's, and pretty much said the way to a good pass prevent, is a heavy blitz. If anyone can bring it, it's CP! This may be a big play for me. Waiting for more pts....we'll see how that goes!

Hogman,

Pinnacle currently has Car +7 1/2 (-119). So, I don't think it will go to 8 or more. It could drop to 7 which wouldn't be that big of a deal. Not a bad idea to wait since there is no way it drops below 7. So, now that I think about it. If you wait until Saturday morning, maybe the line will get driven up. Also, maybe you have one of those locals who likes to move lines against where he expects money, in that case, you might get more. I can't wait for Saturday because I don't much care for the NBA and the Hawkeyes (BB) really suck this year. Also, I'm not a Carolina homer, but I might be slightly swayed by my hatred for Mike Martz. What a Jag-off.

How could I have overlooked the 2001 revenge factor?;) Does revenge go back that far? This play just keeps getting stronger. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Hopefully they keep it closer than 48-14. As I said b4 though, I've been wrong many, many times. hopefully not this time, though.

be careful boys :nono:

Rams have not been beat at home and that is not just a coincidence. It will be very loud and a very tough place to throw an inexperienced QB into. I dont like the hook so I teased the Rams down to -.5 along with NE +1. Both these teams win this weekend.

I forget where it was on the forum, but I had mentioned the "revenge" factor...I think definitely has some bearing...

hellah10....they were getting 20 in the first meeting of the 2 teams in 2001, but were a 12.5 home pup, and lost by only 6 the 2nd meeting.

Willy...Martz is a fraud...JMO. My buddy and I jumped on the Panthers wagon 2 yrs ago, after the 1-15 disaster, and said they'd be a decent team. After the 4-0 start, they didn't hear the end of it. Then came the midseason swoon. Well...the midseason swoon came again, but to a much lesser extent, and this time with a run game and a stud defense.....anyways, I digress. Martz, I feel is the reason they lost to the Pats in the Superbowl, simply outcoached. Not sure if John Fox is the next Bellicheck (sp?), but I'll still take the pts.

Much more analysis to go....be back soon!

O.K. I`ll play devils advocate. Revenge? Fox, Delhomme, Davis, weren`t there when they got beat by twenty points. Whats to avenge for them? Jake will have trouble all day trying to audible in that noisy nut house. Bulger not very good? What is he, about 18 - 3 as a starter? Faulk back on his game. Holt having a career season. I think St. Louis wins this game by 17 to 20 points.

Oh well good luck whoever you bet guys.

Skanoochies.

P.S. for Cash. Be there wed. at Elks in N.W. Nice club.:D :D :D

Skanoochies,

Some may not agree with me, but, I don't think there is much of a revenge factor. But some of the Panthers were there, Muhammed comes to mind immediately. If anything, that cocky-ass Martz and his team may overlook this group of supposed overachievers. That doesn't see at all unlikely to me. Look at St. Louis's last game. They failed to show up for the second half and may have cost themselves a trip to Houston. As far as the noise, no question, the place will be a zoo. However, Delhomme is not Peyton Manning. He audibles very little, and has very little freedom when it comes to that. If they tell him to handoff to #48, that is what he does. Also, nobody said bulger was no good, just that he has a tendency to make poor throws when pressure is put on him. His record can't be argued, but he is more of a product of his system than any other NFL QB, just as I believe Kurt Warner was. That's not to take anything away from either of them. You make valid points, and I've considered all of them. If you think the Rams will win by 17-20 points, then it looks like you have a nice wager. I just think differently, and that's why this forum is here. I've been talked out of more losing plays than winning ones over the years. I appreciate the input.

GL,

Willy
