it is raining cats and dogs again here in Oklahoma, since I have been home from Vegas (early april) we have received 7+ inches.
The 6 o' clock news showed a flooded country road with some good size bass swimming in the flooded road by his news truck.
Anyhow, I was reminiscing with an old golf buddy.
We played very infrequently, and frankly both of us were hackers. Retired from golf 10 years ago, bad swing and back.
My favorite personal golf story was 1995 Jeckyll Island Georgia.
This was where the Rockefellers, J P Morgans etc
played privately in the early 20th century.
On this beautiful fall day, our foursome was started on the back 9 on a PGA qualifying course by the starter. We sliced and diced our way thru Palmettos and pine trees, avoided snakes, drank beer, just had fun.
Survived the the back 9, finished the 18th, we were resting before starting at the first hole for 1 thru 9.
We were comparing scores and a starter came by, apparently thinking we had finished 18 asked how we did.
I replied "I shot a 61" he looked at me with awe and said the course record was 62...
I laughed and said, "I hope to do as well on the front 9"
Everyone had a good laugh.
Think I shot a total of 134, lost a half dozen balls, got punctured by Palmettos, threw a one wood into a lake, drank a fair share of a 12 pack, did return the cart mostly undamaged, (we played some minor bumper cars).
All and all, a very successful golf outing with friends in the day.
