Something is wrong with Peyton. I'm wondering if his neck is bothering him. Yes, they had success running the ball in a few games after losing to STL. But He can't get passes to some players (not to discount the Indy D, as it's been awesome today,) and some passes not pulled in, but he doesn't look crisp. And that last series where they started to get a rhthym, once they got a first down, went back to the run, and the drive stalled.
I think Peyton is tired--his neck or arm, that is. Just don't see that same umph under his passes.
I felt Denver was making a mistake relying on the run as much as they did, and now, when it counts, it has come back to haunt them.
Would rather have had Denver vs Pats instead of Indy. Still think Pats win, but believe Colts more difficult to beat. We shall see. Kinda hard to watch this game.
Thanks dude. I know my post might not be popular with some but I admire what Peyton has done in his career and just can't stand to see different rules put in place when it comes to the playoffs.
I also love Marvin Harrison and I've seen him and all their receivers just not able to do anything b/c they are grabbed/held/molested the entire game...and its shown as if the defenders are "tough" and they are "letting them play"
Never been a Colt fan (though I probably would have been one if I was alive during the Unitas days) but I do love/admire what Manning can and has done and just don't understand the way ref's call the game in the postseason.
Best 2 players of all-time to me....#1 Jerry Rice. #2 Peyton Manning.
Its tough to say where I'd take just about anyone. Look at Montana....I'd take him first...except that he also benefited from...good god...coaching way ahead of its time...Jerry f'n Rice...talent everywhere on offense and defense....but at the same time Montana was still amazing.
Brady has 3 Super Bowls...but, the tuck rule...that's a bullshit title. That was a fumble and Raiders could have run clock out. Spygate....come on, they knew the plays. Brady is damn good but I can't put him too high with all that bullshit.
Even Manning....incredible talent on offense with the Colts. There's a reason the defense sucked....its b/c they spent all the money on offense. My main beef with it is that all that money on offense got cheated b/c teams (mainly the Patriots) got away with murder on those talented finesse receivers in the playoffs.
Colts set their team up to be powerful on offense and crappy on defense. So I have no problem judging Manning on that. But they won like hell in regular season and then in playoffs, refs swallow whistle, and Colts lose b/c of it. Not fair. Patriots are "blue collar" "cold weather" "tough" "defensive" and ref's/league let them get away with murder...throw in bitch brady and also tuck rule bullshit...yeah 3 titles. Its a phony league and if nothing else I love the other Manning and the Giants for at least preventing that pussy from getting 2 more rings.
Peyton Manning is the most overrated QB (which is to say probably the most overrated player) in NFL history.
1998 Throws 28 INTs during regular season as team misses playoffs.
1999: Throws 0 TDs in 42 attempts in one & done elimination loss to Titans.
2000: Throws 1 TD in one & done elimination loss to Dolphins, giving them only playoff victory of decade.
2001: Throws 23 INTs during regular season as team misses playoffs.
2002: Throws 0 TDs and 2 INTs in 41-0 one & done elimination loss to the 9-7 Jets.
2003: Throws 4 INTs in AFC Championship game in elimination loss to Patriots. "MVP" year
2004: Throws 0 TDs and 1 INT in AFC Championship game in elimination loss to Patriots. "MVP" year
2005: Throws 1 TD at home in a one & done elimination loss to the Steelers, after a 14-2 season
2006: Throws 3 TDs / 7 INTs with 70.5 QB rating while being carried by his defense and Adam Vinatieri to his only SB.
2007: Throws 6 INTs in reglular season loss to Norv Turner then proceeds to be eliminated in one & done playoff game by same team.
2008: Throws 1 TD against Norv Turner's 31st ranked pass defense in a first round elimination loss to 8-8 Chargers. "MVP" year
2009: Throws Super Bowl losing INT to Saints 26th ranked pass defense. "MVP" year
2010: Throws 1 TD at home in one & done elimination loss to Jets
2012: Turns the ball over 3 times and throws the interception that results in a Ravens field goal to win in 2OT as Broncos exit in the first round.
2013: Loses in the Super Bowl by throwing 2 INTs and being generally unable to move the ball down the field. Game was already lost by the 2nd quarter, in which he got his first 1st down conversion in. Record breaking year.
2014: Throws 1 TD in a blowout loss at home for another one and done against his former team and their subpar defense.
I've said a lot before but its apples and oranges.
Here is what I see with Peyton's legacy. For one, yes, he should have won more playoff games. But...he rarely played in wildcard games...which would have been against "easier" competition...to get that "first round win"
Also, he played on finesse teams. Nothing wrong with that but for some reason the NFL has to referee differently in the playoffs. So his receivers get molested and no call while he never had a good defense, at least at Indy...and they are of no help.
Meanwhile, a guy like Brady had really good defense over the years and also really physical defense that got away with murder in the playoffs. Hell, throw in Spygate and its no wonder they won.
I can draw up all kinds of great offensive plays...but if DB's are allowed to grab and hold my receivers, they aren't going to work. That's the downfall of Peyton's legacy. I'm sure many will disagree...especially Patriot fans who see nothing wrong with cheating. But if the game was called like it should be, Peyton would have about 4 rings. But the playoffs are different....its about "defense" and "toughness"...and "cheating"...lol the league is a joke...proven by the catch that never was today. I'm so tired of the NFL.
