Tuesday at Philly
2nd Race (Don't know why, but I just don't wanna skip this race that has potential LONGSHOT prices.)
Similar to the last race yesterday that I screwed up BIG TIME with that last minute throw out. Worser tho. This one is for maidens AND there's two first timers AND (worser again) one of them has a shot IMO. Normally, a race like this is a "SKIP IT" deal. I'm coming up with a FEW that are pricey and "can do" though. But when I got all the contenders that I got figured and countem.. there's SIX freakin hosses.
OK, gotta cut down the play. Best thing to do (I think) is to take a shot with the bestest longshot with 3 of MY contenders AND a small W/PL@2x on TWO of the other pricey hosses on the side. EACH should have excellent odds so either one of these two wins and that should cover all the bets and prob. some profit to boot....
Zactas No.7 top/bot with 2,3,10 AND a side order of (each) no. 1 and no. 6 WIN/PL@ 2x.
(maybe somebody sees something in one or two of the nos. mentioned and just plays them... but I'm taking the route that I got written above. That is -> "Philly Style" betting.)
4th Race
NO PLAY but want to add that the no. 5 who will prob. go off a big favorite certainly looks like the one with Mouch and plenty of speed to wirem. I'm noticing that early speed is NOT holding up at all like it used to around this track. Wouldn't play against the 5 and surely ain't gonna play on him.
5th Race:
I got some exactas put together.
Zactas 2,3 top/bot w. 4,5. For a total of $16 bucks for $2 tickets... I believe any hit produces an exacta over 40 greenbacks. ROI is even greater with bigger tickets. I'll be watching for a scratch that would reduce the field to 6 stinkin hosses and that could mean the play is not worthwhile.
BTW, I ain't just putting longshots together with favorites to make an exacta even though it looks like it. The no. 2 is VERY consistant and has good speed as well. He hasn't missed getting a check in 4 starts and Estrada does great the first time he saddles a claimed hoss. Don't know what the hell is going on with Anthony Black who rides the no.2?? He has a retirement celebration, then pops up his head to ride a few days, then disappears again, then back for a few again, disappears again, etc. Basically, he's the Bret Farve of racing. Still, he's a capable rider. The no. 3 has been very competitive in 4 straight ALoWANCE races, has the kind of PPs I like to see, and is one of them horse's that runs his "A" race every other start. If so, today is the right one in the sequence.
6th Race:
Prob. NO PLAY. Thought this would be my kinda race - two turns, cheap claimer, 9 HOSS FIELD. Didn't turn out that way. Two things though....
Think I MAY have found two horses that could be the ones that may produce a high exacta price IF THIS RACE DOES PAYOFF BIG. They're nos. 5 (10-1) or 6 (6-1).
Gotta throw 2 stikin bucks, Win/Place on no.2. Maybe a little more if she looks extra good in the prerace. It goes like this ... Don't bet over your head, don't follow these picks blindly, and MOST OF ALL... NEVA, NEVA, NEVA bet on a hoss trained by Uriah Lewis. This guy is a JOKE no matter where he races (Fla, N.Y., Penn, anyplace). Now, the no.2 horse was just claimed FROM him and must be smiling from ear to ear to git the hell outa his barn. His PPs say he should be over 50-1 in this race but those lines are from his sentence in Uriah's barn. Doubtful he'll win today cause it may be too soon for him to fully recover from whatever the hell happens under Uriah's care... but ya gotta play him LIGHTLY today.
OK, the typing blisters are acting up. That's if FOR NOW anyway.
G.L. yawl.
