2nd Race (Don't know why, but I just don't wanna skip this race that has potential LONGSHOT prices.)

Similar to the last race yesterday that I screwed up BIG TIME with that last minute throw out. Worser tho. This one is for maidens AND there's two first timers AND (worser again) one of them has a shot IMO. Normally, a race like this is a "SKIP IT" deal. I'm coming up with a FEW that are pricey and "can do" though. But when I got all the contenders that I got figured and countem.. there's SIX freakin hosses.

OK, gotta cut down the play. Best thing to do (I think) is to take a shot with the bestest longshot with 3 of MY contenders AND a small W/PL@2x on TWO of the other pricey hosses on the side. EACH should have excellent odds so either one of these two wins and that should cover all the bets and prob. some profit to boot....

Zactas No.7 top/bot with 2,3,10 AND a side order of (each) no. 1 and no. 6 WIN/PL@ 2x.

(maybe somebody sees something in one or two of the nos. mentioned and just plays them... but I'm taking the route that I got written above. That is -> "Philly Style" betting.)

4th Race

NO PLAY but want to add that the no. 5 who will prob. go off a big favorite certainly looks like the one with Mouch and plenty of speed to wirem. I'm noticing that early speed is NOT holding up at all like it used to around this track. Wouldn't play against the 5 and surely ain't gonna play on him.

5th Race:

I got some exactas put together.

Zactas 2,3 top/bot w. 4,5. For a total of $16 bucks for $2 tickets... I believe any hit produces an exacta over 40 greenbacks. ROI is even greater with bigger tickets. I'll be watching for a scratch that would reduce the field to 6 stinkin hosses and that could mean the play is not worthwhile.

BTW, I ain't just putting longshots together with favorites to make an exacta even though it looks like it. The no. 2 is VERY consistant and has good speed as well. He hasn't missed getting a check in 4 starts and Estrada does great the first time he saddles a claimed hoss. Don't know what the hell is going on with Anthony Black who rides the no.2?? He has a retirement celebration, then pops up his head to ride a few days, then disappears again, then back for a few again, disappears again, etc. Basically, he's the Bret Farve of racing. Still, he's a capable rider. The no. 3 has been very competitive in 4 straight ALoWANCE races, has the kind of PPs I like to see, and is one of them horse's that runs his "A" race every other start. If so, today is the right one in the sequence.

6th Race:

Prob. NO PLAY. Thought this would be my kinda race - two turns, cheap claimer, 9 HOSS FIELD. Didn't turn out that way. Two things though....

Think I MAY have found two horses that could be the ones that may produce a high exacta price IF THIS RACE DOES PAYOFF BIG. They're nos. 5 (10-1) or 6 (6-1).

Gotta throw 2 stikin bucks, Win/Place on no.2. Maybe a little more if she looks extra good in the prerace. It goes like this ... Don't bet over your head, don't follow these picks blindly, and MOST OF ALL... NEVA, NEVA, NEVA bet on a hoss trained by Uriah Lewis. This guy is a JOKE no matter where he races (Fla, N.Y., Penn, anyplace). Now, the no.2 horse was just claimed FROM him and must be smiling from ear to ear to git the hell outa his barn. His PPs say he should be over 50-1 in this race but those lines are from his sentence in Uriah's barn. Doubtful he'll win today cause it may be too soon for him to fully recover from whatever the hell happens under Uriah's care... but ya gotta play him LIGHTLY today.

OK, the typing blisters are acting up. That's if FOR NOW anyway.

G.L. yawl.

NOBODY will read my post now

NOBODY will read my post now

Can't believe it.. happened in other sports too... post em and loss... don't post em and win. :(
Doesn't happen that much in horses cause I do win occasionally with the posts.

Hit that "JET" horse hard the other day and it was a good move to get back to small bets. Maybe not such a good move today though. RUSHED the 8th race picks and got REAL lucky AND thought it best NOT to post a thing the way the day was going. Actually, I got the picks MORE from LOOKING at the horses in the prerace than capping them although that no. 6 hoss was tops on capping. Actually, if I posted the picks (2,6 with 5,7 and a 2-6 boxed on the side) there only woulda been something like a minute to post.

Posting this just for an example why betting "Philly Style" can work. Still think it's time to put the brakes on, track is playing closers and that's not my style.

No need to figure this thing out cause it comes out like this when you cut n paste the report from Twin Spires - I hit that $402 zacta in the 8th. Played it for only 1 stinkin dollar the way it came in and $2 not so stinkin dollars that opposite way.

You have wagers not displayed. Show all of today's bets.

Overall, it wasn't such a hot day for me, but keeping the bets low and nailing one of them "Philly Specials" makes it all worthwhile.

Gonna try the 10th race but didn't cap anything for that race. Chime in if anybody's interested. Nothing in the 9th (loading while I'm typing this).

GOOD LUCK in Tampa, Hogman. If ya see anything good, aside from a filled bikini, let us know.

No need to reply cause capping won't work for this race methinks. If it does work.. no. 5 would be the play SO FAR.

I'll try to get back with a LOOKER :)

No 5 should hit the board at least. If he stays at 7-2 prob. worth a W/Pl/S deal. No. 3 looks good, a first time starter with ELLIOT, tough call.

That's all folks.

Wrap up (to myself, I guess)

Wrap up (to myself, I guess)

Just went over all the results of the posts and it looks like it wasn't as bad as I thought. Got $ back from that 2nd race (1,2 scratched) and the only real loss was from the 5th.

Anyways, throw in another $3.20 in the profit pot for the 10th. LOL Had that no.5 @ $2,$2, $10. Maybe there was a whale/bridgejumper out there who laid the HUGE bucks down on that no. 5 to show who looked very solid to hit the board ESP with Pennington on board. Even though, he had to run his ass off to get 2nd, really gave it his all in that race. Don't dream about being a WHALE, thems sink sooner or later. I think even the Whales are smart enough to steer clear of cheap MAIDEN claimers though.

Obviously, the exacta woulda been a much better bet for me :(

Thanks for the well wishes MJers, and enjoy the sun, Hogman.

Good luck the rest of the way cause we're hitting the Dog Days of Summer with the basebawlers.
Going from coin tosses (baskets) to coin tosses with TERRIBLE odds (baisebawl); NO THANKS.

(if baises is your sport , here's something I'd like to share with the faithful visitors that may be of interest. The way I see it.. BB is getting ruined like most sports .... no mo. Warren Spahns, Sandy Kofaxes, Whitey Fords, etc. Starting pitchers are handled with care these days (actually, these YEARS), we don't wanna hurt the high priced bast.. er, Super Stars. and they only pitch 6 innings IF THAT.

What to do? Well, how bout studying them real close like with your objective being - find the right game to play (there aren't many during the long season); that's the hard part. Ya play the DOG (very nice odds) in a game that the fav. has a HOT SHOT starter (low, low odds). How cum?.. .. well, There's always a chance the hot shot has an off day, but even if he doesn't.. he's out after 6 innings, in comes the TURKEY reliever, blows the save - you win the game. :). I've seen it happen enough times to be a winner in this sport (NO, not me, I don't play/bet much BB at all). I do play/bet tennis though.)

I'll be sticking to the ponies.
