As promised, hot off the early bird press... today's picks.
When I first checked the entries for today, they looked terrible. Musta noticed the short fields and that turned me off. Yesterday, I took another look and I noticed quite a few horses that I'm very familair with and the races didn't look that bad after all.
The GOOD news - I had the time, so I got the pps and did the full analysis (<-- got a Phd. in horseology).
The BAD news - Nothing that you can really put your teeth into today; VERY competitive races. Well, I'm up to the 6th and so far they are.
It's the kind of day that you GO HOME with a smile on your face as soon as you are ahead. Races are tough. I'm only gonna post the first 3 playable races and hopefully I'll reach that point after hitting something in one of them. Advise you do the same. Very little chance of landing a bomber on account of the short fields today.
Race 2
I like to play longshots that have a BETTER CHANCE of winning the race than the others in the race. There's some value if you find a longshot that HAS THE SAME CHANCE OF WINNING AS THE OTHER HORSES IN THE RACE. But those aren't nearly as good as the first type.
You only want longshots? YOU can go out on a limb and do something with the no. 4 hoss, Mistycal Light. Here's something off the wall.. . . the jockey on this horse has a terrible, terrible win and ITM record. He's one of my favorite jockey's though. I ALWAYS give him a second look no matter which horse he's on.. I LUV the way he rides; just give him a good horse to ride. This horse has very good early speed, LIKE THE OTHERS, and won his last easily, also LIKE THE OTHERS. His odds (10-1 M.L.) is NOT like the others and he's got the jockey I want. Just like a lot of the races today - I gotta see them before I play them. For this race, I AM gonna play this one no matter, but how is the question. SO FAR, the 1,3,5 look like zacta factas. With Rivera (EDWIN) on him, maybe just doing W/Pl/Show@3x may be the better choice? I should mention that Rivera is better on closers than early speedsters, but that's alright with me. He was on this horse in his last race and won it easily.
Race 3
Tougher than the 2nd race, UGH! I got the contenders as the 2,5,6. BUT ya gotta keep your fingers crossed that the dang no. 3 doesn't ruin the game plan. Guees I gotta just go for value.... so..... how bout no. 2 (8-1) top bottom with 5,6. AND play to WIN nos. 2 and no. 3 (12-1). Might want to just skip this race? Oh, if ya do play it - DON' T forget them magic exacta nos.
2<->6; heavier on that "golden" combo.
Race 5
Two absolutely SUPERB Philly dirt bombs in this race. SUPERB! This race is as interesting as any Grade 1 stake race to me. No. 5, Muffin Top is as consistant as they come and he's one that I almost NEVER leave out; he's the closer... . . no. 7, Super Nova Desert is the speedster and has made me some decent moola in his last few races. Too early to see if either scratches, but if the no 7 does scratch, that no. 5 just may be the one to send in the 3 figures on for today. Well, at least until you come to your senses that is.
Like trifectas? MaYBE a 4-6-7 or 5-6-7 boxed can do?
Like exactas? Throw in the the no. 6, Calamari in exactas (top/bottom, of course) with each of the two mentioned above.
Mmmmm -Calamari? Oh man, I could gobble up a bowl of them RIGHT NOW at 6 a.m. with some good tomatoe sauce. My mouth is watering. If ya get the frozen ones, use the part with the tenacles NOT the rubber assholes part. YUM MEEEE !
Those should hold yas off for now; hopefully I won't need to come back today. Whatever ya do, DON'T lose it all today cause tomorrow is TUESDAY ($$$) and it may be the last day I post anything for awhile. Getem while ya can.
Good luck (caught them Ravens last night.. so the streak continues.. let's keep it going). Hmmm, maybe I'll post some stuff in the college footsball forum. :00x33
