I forgot to put the date in the title, but I guess it doesn't matter for this Forum.

Better card today. Sorry bout the shotgun type bets in a couple of the races; I do that when I feel pretty good about cashing if I just add one or two extra bets in a particular race. Oh yeah, the elastic band is coming off the Saturday's football roll today. Damn thang is starting to burn a hole in my pocket.

5th RACE

Here's the deal - my figures (MOST important thing) sez that one of 5 of the horses WILL win this race, 1,2,3,4,6; they're closely ranked and the other two hosses are well behind these. . BIG help, right? .... .. there's only 7 hosses in the dang race! But I'm just telling it like it is. The worstest part is the nos. give a slight edge to the 1,2, and 6 and I like the no. 4 A LOT. Fluck!

I got $60 worth of bets written down for this race, a lot for me, and I'll have to see them so that I may be able to throw something out. For now... the sane way to play this race is probably:

Trifecta boxes: 1,2,4 and also, for MORE than $2 tickets -> 1,3,6. Both are "magic" nos. for tri combinations and those horses figure.

Exactas: 1,4 top/bot with 2,6 AND also box 1-2. ALL exactas for more than min. bets.

Conservative betting would be to just play the no. 4 Win/Pl/Show @ 3x and a 1-2-6 zacta box. IF my figures just woulda rated the no. 4, CLEARLY on top or second - I woulda hammered that hoss today, but YA CAN'T COMPLETELY IGNORE THE FIGURES. I'm sure gonna hate to see a "magic" nos. trifecta if I take the conservative route on this race.

6th RACE

VERY solid lookin exactas: 2,4 Top/Bot 7,8 and since a 7-8 box LOOKS like the only OBVIOUS obstacle ya gotta play that box on the side. IF the no.4 goes off at nice odds then he's a side play W/Pl/Show @2x. Again - ONLy, at least, at semi longshot odds or better.

Window Shoppers looking for a longshot? ... check out the no. 9 hoss (I'll have him with those 4 horses above in small zactas. He looks to be able to get to the top or close early on and who knows what happens after that. Good owner of that horse too. DON'T forget though - I'm playing with EZ cash with pictures of Joe Nameth on them instead of Presidents. Take it easy if ya playing with hard earned handicapping horses cash today.

7th RACE

May be a two horse race between both of the favorites, the 3 and the 5. :(
Possible zacta factas are the No. 1 or 2 (BTW, who the hell is the jockey on the no. 2, Sarah Rook, and same for the owner/trainer, Don Bielek?}. No. 2 happens to be a very good Phily dirt bag too ? Only if I'm well ahead will I think about dabbling with this race. OR... if I SEE something good in the prerace.

That's it for today, G.L. MJers.

GL Jim,

Hopefully, #1 and#3 will inherit most of the toteboard action from the fact that these horses just won in A94000 and A12500s repectively and now dropping down a bit., interesting move by the trainers, making the others more applealing.
Good luck on your wagering format.

7th race

Damn, there's no way anybody coulda got it, thems were off about 20 seconds after I posted. YOU got lucky... ... . I got UNlucky in that race.

I wheeled the 8 (25=1) and she LOOKED like a winner down the stretch. Thought I caught the one I was looking for today alright. UNfortunately FOR ME, she was wide all the way and couldn't sustain her bid and finished THIRD.... UGH.

result was 5-3-8 CLOSE, but no ceeegar. I also wheeled that one, top/bot, in zacatas. (Oooops, said that alrieady :scared)

Hey, btw, where is Nosigar anyways?

Thanks for you input, Hamster just saw it while I was reviewing this thing. Not keeping up today.

Maybe I'll SEE something good in the remaining races. If you do, post it here or anywhere.

G.L.

Phet --------> Uh (dats sposed to be an arrow to the heart)

Got the no 7 (30-1) across the board and wheeled the 2 on top/bottom. Shoulda played it the other way. Won a little, but coulda won a lot. Zacta paid $70 with that 4 to 5 on top.

SEE HOW THAT NO. 5 RAN... THEMS WERE GOING FOR IT IN THIS RACE.

Prices aren't up yet, I did get the zacta (hoping something bigger to come in with the no. 5) and had a small bet on the 9 (along with those other ones I posted).

EDITED -> THAT NO. 5 WENT FROM 7/2 TO 2/1 IN THE LAST COUPLE OF FLASHES. HE LOOKED THE PART IN THE PRERACE TOO. GOOD THING I only got a glimpse of him in the prerace cause I'm planning to lay some heavy lumber when I DO SEE a horse acting like a "10" in the prerace. But I gotta confirm the LOOKS and I couldn't with just seeing a quick glimpse of this one who did look pretty dang close to a "10". Whew! Although, prerace "10s" DON'T go off at 2-1, thems go off at 20 to 50 to 1's and I've caught them with my 2 or 5 stinkin bucks on them quite a few times. I promised myself I'm gonna send it in the next time I see one. Haven't seen one in months. Not sure if this no. 5 hoss was one or not today.

Closing this thread with this....

This old Philly track is LEGIT, payoffs are OVERpaid (compared to other tracks), colony of jocks, trainers, owners, horses for the most part remain intact. Aside from the severe weather problems they had - this track pretty much "plays the same" all of the time.

Thems the reasons why I stick to this place like GLUE (hmm... where's that dang picture I posted once before of that there "Kick Ass" glue bottle with the horse on it?). Oh well.

Seeyas tomorrow, TUE$. I HOPE.

Hi Jim,
I'm gonna send you a helmet-cam so that when you see a "10" horse, you could record what you are drooling over. Compile a few of these and then we could be in the- know about live horseys. Just a thought. Always willing to learn.

Hoss TALK

Hoss TALK

I'm sure my Forum Friends and 260 Peeping Toms would LUV to be able to learn how to acquire the SUPER NATURAL ability (LOL) of conversing with hosses via a 5 minute video. I sure coulda used that video over 35 years ago when I UNKNOWINGLY started to plant the seeds for the resources that I needed to do this. Today, with puters, online horse replays/videos and tv programs that televise hosses on cable.. YOu could probably accomplish what I had to scrape and claw myself through in maybe 5 years, well, maybe 6 or 7 ?. The videoi itself probably couldn't do the trick cause there's so many different COMBINATIONS of things to look for and there A LOT of things to look AT. If I wrote a BOOK (it would be bigger than you think) it would cost ya a millioin bucks for it (I WOULD autograph it too) but even then I don't think I could explain it properly. It's kind of a feeling when you see one that's just impossible to describe and MAYBE it just takes looking at a billion race horses and that takes a LOT of time. Dang, I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it.

WAY back, BEFORE even VCRs or OTBs, I used to religiously watch the Aqueduct Horse racing show EVERY Sat. on regular TV. Anybody remember that show? Frank Wright, a trainer used to be on it. AND at night, I used to watch Racing from Yonkers with Stan Bernstein. BTW, that ole bird is still kicking; he smartened up, ditched the standardbreds, and now he's an "export" thoroughbred old bird. Anybody remember that one? When VCRs came on the scene, I used to tape horse racing and in those days there was much more of it on regular tv channels (BEFORE cable) too. And that's just the first lesson in the course, Hammy. AND at least - YOU'L.L; BE WAY AHEAD OF WHERE I WAS BY STARTING TO DO THAT CAUSE I HAD NO IDEA WHY I WAS DOING ALL THAT STUFF BACK THEN - you will know where you're going with it. PLUS, I had to trek to the racetracks (only about a 2 or 3 thousand times over those years and I was working back then too) so I didn't have to rely on a cameraman as to what I want to look at. The good news is that - YOU can even skip that step. Today ya got LIVE horsie programs, but you do want them to show how the nags look in the paddock as well as the post parade.

I'm gonna write a little about this subject every once in a while in my notepad thingy and when it's ALL done - I'll post some more about this subject for ALL MJers. It'll take weeks for me to complete it though. I'm thinking I'll title it .....

If you're under 40 yrs. old... you too can talk to the hosses by the time you're 60. ;)

For now, be happy with the picks while I'm still feeling lucky and posting them.

I gotta go now and see about finding a Philly bomber for us or me for tomorrow.
