FINALLY .... a decent zacta hit!

Not being able to get to the puter in time to SEE them L@@Kers is costing me dearly at this damn twack. What freakin racetrack gets done right around 4 p.m. E.S.T? Bastages can't wait to get the few fans they got into their casino to finish them off for the day and send them po folks home with empty pockets.

I can do something about Sats and Suns, but. at best, i MIGHT be able to see them live for the 7th on Mondays and Tuesdays. For me, the bestest waces are the middle races and the bestest days are usually Mon. or Tue$.

Didn't go over the day's "work" carefully yet; gonna let interested players do that if they're curious about it. I did see that no. 7 almost pulled it off in the 6th for me; I played the no. 7 and 10 Win/Place and that $11.80 Place payoff on the 7 really helped a little today.

9th race - Well, I did get to enjoy ONE race today LIVE too. Nailed the 9th $69 zacta AND caught the win bet with a decent win play on that no. 4 hoss, $12.80. I also played the 3 and 11 the same way.

SORRY, but I had enough posting by the time I finished capping the 6th and THOUGHT I'd make it back here to L@@K at the 7th which I played when I got done capping ALL the races EARLY this morning. Wouldn't ya know it, I didn't get to see the 7th live and, sure enough, my bestest bet of the day was in that wace - no. 6, BIG Sur. Don't know if it woulda helped anybody but I made the right move and just bet it kinda heavy across the board when I got done capping ALL the races CEPT the 9th cause I was sure I'd make that race for the LIVE race. Didn't pay big, but that race (7th) also helped today, being the only bet I made in that race. BTW, the other day, that "Awesome Kisses" hoss was my Best Bet as well, another winnah. I'm gonna start posting my BB here IF I see one. I usually don't find one that rates that high. I normally don't like doing that cause of all them MOOCHERS (I KNOW there's s TON of them out there) and also cause there are some PLAYERS that just may go overboard on a LOSING BB as well.

Tellyas, if they keep rushing the races and I can't post LOOKERs, I might cool it with the posts cause that part is important. I'm afraid that they even rush them "worser" when the weather gets bad.

Besides, it looks like WE may have an ace capper onboard, ZLOVELL 1. :00hour
And you're a beginner, WOW! Can't give you any advice about handicapping dats forsho, but JUST A COUPLE OF SUGGESTIONS - making only ON E bet on a race is good, but I wouldn't make that bet a TRIFECTA. EXACTAS woulda worked great forya today. I HOPE you actually bet that 8th race BEFORE ya posted cause there's no way you coulda AFTER you posted. That was a GREAT play, zlove.

Guess that's it for another week of excitement at "beautiful" Philly Park.

G.L. whatever you folks are up to till next week's action.

Thanks for the advice jimbo and nice hit on the 9th :0008

I played the 8th just before I posted...been trying to cap and watch as many live races as possible without putting anything down but after awhile my gambler's instinct took over and I just needed a little action...I'm chalking this one up to beginner's luck and would strongly discourage anyone from following me based on that play hitting :mj07:

All that said I'm having fun learning about the sport and am in awe of those who handicap it successfully. Your probably spot on with the trifecta thing, I've got no clue when it comes to the actual betting part. I may have a horse or two I like but how to bet em? Who knows? I'll be hoping to learn as I go and hopefully not get to beat up on the way. :142smilie

Thanks again for the guidance and good luck with them ponies!:toast:

Hamster - I noticed your pick got scratched yesterday. I liked that one myself UNTIL I saw the next horse in the program. At 10-1 Presidential did look mighty good though. One knock I had against that one is that he barely beat 10's and even worse - he was claimed FROM Dutrow.

Hogman, thanks for the kudos. I'm actually not that happy about my results for Tues. Look how "good" I did after putting all the time I spent with the first 8 races - not bad, but certainly not that good either.
Then, I rush through the 9th in the 5 minutes I had to bet it and luck out a bit to come up with a nice result.
Slip me your best college BOWL game (just one game in this forum cause we're not spoused to post different sports in here). Maybe mix it in with one of your horse picks ;)

zlovell1, thanks for the really nice writeup. Do you bet them for REAL or just for fun for now? When I started out, I betem for quit awhile for fun and it didn't bother me at all to just do it that way. Occasionally, I STILL do that but haven't for quite some time. Hmmm... come to think of it, maybe I should go back to betting that way. LOL

Enjoy the sport and don't make it the ONLY sport you enjoy. If you get to the point of ENJOYING just watching a major race with the top horses in the country run and DON'T HAVE TO BET THE RACE TO ENJOY IT... you're right where you wanna be. I had WAY more enjoyment/fun when I used to watch AND FOLLOW the BIG GUNS run in N.Y. than I do now. Gotta admit, betting on them at that time made it even better.

No plans for today but I I gotta get outside today. Tellyas you just can not beat the weather down here. Day after day of perfect weather Esp. this time of the year. Just to make you northern folks feel better - you know the smell of Sprigtime? The smell of flowers? The smell of freshly cut grass. FORGET all that down here - the flowers just about have no smell, the grass ain't nuthin compared to northern Springtime grass and I sure could go for some Jersey tomatoes and fruit. At least the pizza is better than it used to be.

Everything is a trade off.

I put VERY small amounts of money on these picks...enough to keep me interested and give me an idea of how I'm doing...I'm patient enough to know I will need a lot of experience before I can start trying to make money on this...I may never even get to that point but for now i am enjoying the sport and the process and if that is all I get from it I am okay with that

horse racing never really appealed to me before but after watching these races and learning some things I have found appreciation for the sport and what these horses, jockeys, trainers do...even at these lower levels

Anyways here's to learning as much as possible and enjoying myself along the way

Always welcome here! Some solid cappers, and our godfather, Jimbo.

If you muse through I think one of these threads has a little about how we got involved in hoss racing.

It's definitely a great way to spend half a Saturday, or to lay low at the casino in the sports book.

BOL to you. Got any fave tracks?
