For a chain Sbarros makes a decent pie.

I think they are only found in food courts in malls and airports. That's the only place I've seen them.

Spartan, you crack me up. They do make a good pie though.
Next time you are at the Garden for a game, go to John's on Bleecker Street in the West Village.
I think it's the best Pizza in the city.

Just googled it know exactly where it is defenitely going to try it. Thanks for the recomendation. Just a couple weeks ago I had pizza at Bens Famous Pizza on Mcdougal a block away from Bleeker.

I agree with most others in this thread. Here are my thoughts:

1. Papa Johns: It's all right, I prefer local chains better but a few of their pizzas are really good like the Bacon Cheeseburger pizza. Always get the thin crust.

2. Dominos: Like the thin crust style pizzas every once in a while. Years ago, you couldn't pay me to eat this crap.

3. Pizza Hut: Gross as hell, all kinds of additives and crap put into it. I hate this shit, will not eat it EVER!

Worked for all 3 chains at one time or another, made the most money working for Papa John's, I own a franchise of theirs so I'm biased on them, Domino's was around long before Papa and it took them how many years to say their sauce and dough sucked and made a big deal about it on TV then lowered the price when the economy went sour 2009-2010, Hut has gone from making their own dough daily in the morning to frozen crust and sauce is a vacuumed sealed pack then you add spice and water to it. I can eat a Papa John's pizza on occasion and since we are talking chains it was the thread title, there is my 2 cents worth and knowledge behind the 3 companies. John is a great person to work for and with - he's as real as the commercials in real life too.

As far as pizza I'd rather eat, New York style, brick oven or old fashioned shut door ovens with brick slates, the higher temp ovens 800 degees that cook in 3 mins are awesome if you like a lil char to your crust or toppings, and folding it in half like others mentioned is awesome, it's old school. Chicago style pizza I can eat too, and it wasn't meant to be held in one hand, it's made for a knife and fork. There are some great places in Chicago to eat a Chicago style deep dish, but the best ones made, take 30-35 minutes to bake properly, it's a buttery/richer crust, and a couple slices can fill you up quickly, unless you are as big as Charles Barkley was behind his diet, LOL!!

Great NY Pizza and you can't go wrong, Grimaldis across and under the bridge, and the original Ray's Pizza on 1st street before it moved, Connecticut has a couple great places similar to Grimaldi's.

Also one of the best places as a college student making a wager from time to time was through a pizza restaurant in Omaha back then called Johnny Sortino's, it has different folks behind their ops now - my have times changed!!

Later!!

I prefer real New York pizza above all. Floppy, foldable awesomeness.

I hate Chicago Deep Dish. It is shit. Fact.

First of all, I hate Pizza Hut. I can easily taste all the sugar they put in that shit.

Domino's used to suck, but I now call it "tolerable". But - they're thin crust sausage and pepperoni is the mutherfuckinbomb!

However, my favorite is Papa Johns. That pepper they put in there - DAMN! Pour the juice out onto your pizza and never look back. I could drink that garlic sauce.

That Sirachia sauce or however you spell it, is the best on Papa Johns. (Thanks WHN for the intro) :0008

What about you?

All 3 taste like crap, These are all chains. Bottom of the barrel. Prefer the local mom and pop's. People that would eat these and call them good would probably eat anything.

Of chain pizzas I would go with Toppers. I guess they are not everywhere though. I can't even remember the last time I had Pizza Hurl, err Hut.

Not many Toppers around, they do get good reviews, this I know because I have too, LOL!! Lots of franchises out there, Lil Caesars for $5 hot and ready (pure garbage) it makes Tombstone look like a $100 pie, I'd eat a Palermo's frozen pie from the local grocer first before buying from most major pizza chains.

On the Left Coast, Round Table Pizza I heard was very good, only tried their salads, odd, I know.

In Florida, there's a small chain called, "Flippers" Pizza of all names, I guess they use Dolphin, the mammal, as meat on their pizzas!! :0030

Hungry Howie's isn't bad, very sweet pizza sauce, sweeter than Papa John's sauce, they also butter their crust in several flavors, I guess any cover up of crust taste is good, Domino's copied it :mj07:

Later!!

Going out to get pizza now!!
