Good morning, Boss.
(10) It has turned cold, looks like about 20 degrees all day long on Sunday and Monday, but very little wind or precipitation. I?ve never tailgated when it was below 30 degrees, but I?ve been to two games when it was below 5 degrees.
A thermal top, thermal long johns and thermal socks with a hooded sweatshirt as your base, under proper winter garments, and you will be just fine in anything close to 20 degrees.
(11) The absolute best experience is
a Sunday night game at dusk in September or early October after the whole day has been spent warming up by watching a full slate of games at Stadium View, having the anticipation build, taking periodic strolls to a tailgate location in the parking lot or some nearby neighbor, and just absorbing the growing throng. A late game at 3:15 on Sunday with a victory party that continues through the Sunday night game is almost as good . . .
A Monday night game is a different animal, and I?ve only been to one. I don?t think the game day on a working Monday gets a chance to get that sustained build-up over many hours, and I?m not sure what kind of atmosphere is there on the Sunday before, whereas the Saturday before a Sunday game usually has plenty of action and feel. I think both Sunday and Monday will be pretty sweet, but it is
a different animal than a Sunday game.
(12) I see
PocketAces has you lined up for some tailgate action :00hour near the stadium, so I know you are in good hands and will get a chance to spend some time with and just interacting with that group and the surrounding groups. It really is like a college atmosphere in Iowa City, just a little older on the whole. At some point when you are cruising by on Lombardi Avenue on Sunday, be sure to notice the permanent party set ups the neighbors have built in their yards. Packers Heaven!
(13) I doubt you have any interest in the more expensive Packer memorobilia, but if you did, Packer City Antiques just about 2 blocks down from Kroll?s is the must see spot, although inexplicably to me, they are closed on Sundays.
(13) So Stadium View really is my preferred location for watching the other 15 NFL games on Sunday, although Anduzzi's is good, too. I'll try to dig up a couple pictures from my albums after I finish this post.

Fuzzy?s (I?ve chatted with Fuzzy, Max McGee and Paul Hornung while there); Lombardi?s house at 667 Sunset Circle, where the team gathered for the post-game party after the Ice Bowl, and the proud current owner keeps the house as close as possible to how it was back then, including 1950's windows, etc.; Skip a Stone Diner on Holmgren Way for breakfast at honorable mention on the list, where Ray Nitschke?s stool has been preserved and the regulars hang out playing cards or cribbage or something; the gates of old City Stadium; and Titletown Brewing is a nice place, although I?d really like to try for a memorable meal at Vince Lombardi?s Steakhouse in Appleton.

(15) My crew has never included any
casino fans, so I?ve never been, but it would seem a likely place for bumping into local
celebrities and celebrities in town for the game.
If I think of something else in the next hour or so I?ll make a quick addition.
Here?s hoping it?s a great game and the good guys win, and I don?t mean the Ravens.
