Live tourny 1st hand antes 25-50 players begin with 3000 chips. Player A in 2nd position bets 300. Player B in 5th position holds JJ and calls. Flop comes A Q J. Player A checks. Player B bets 1000. Player A raises all in. What should Player B do?

Call as fast as you can get your chips in there.

If you are beat, so what...... There's only 3 hands that beat you...Can't play scared early. Get a bunch of chips early or you get the pain of getting knocked out over with early and don't have to waste time.

This is a supereasy call and without a read which is impossible on the 1st hand this is a quick and easy call. He could easily have AK or A with a flush draw or back doordraw. Even if he has K 10 you aren't in superbad shape.

You are getting 2.5 at least on your money...1700 to win 4375.

Easy call and if you aren't calling you're a nit like jack. Online this call is even easier.

and zero offense whatsoever to dunclock, but I think calling is terrible here.

also.. as for reads... hard to tell but i'm guessing he has AK, or a suited A-10 and got it in with a top pair and straight draw trying to push you off the same.

he'll probly have you on AK or 10-10/jj/kk and could very well be thinking this early in the game he can scare you out of the pot.

No offense taken bro, as you can see what I said, I USUALLY shove allin and my luck is to be on the wrong end of those 3 hands that beat you:mj07:

As much as I would like to call, (or re-raise) I would probably just let him take the hand this early in the game. Chances are he's only holding 1 queen or ace underneath and is HOPING for the third to show up on the turn or the river. If he hits it - you lose. Maybe he already does have 2 queens or aces underneath and you've already lost. Pretty ballsy of him to raise you all in after you bet $1000 (or about 1/3 of your bankroll). I would just give it to him as difficult as that may seem having 3 jacks this early in the hand and in the game.

omg.. we have the best hand here.. get the chips in and take his tourney life! FINISH HIM!!!!!!!!!

if he just has a lone ace or queen and another comes.. we fill up. he just has trips. its game over baby.. put the women and children to bed and get ready to start pushing your big stack around early

I would have pushed right with him, and if I'm beat, so be it. If you lay it down, you're already out half of your chips, right? The guy probably has something like 99; if he played k 10 there and hit, what can you do? If he has a higher set, you're just sol.

Okay well I called and my trip J's were beaten by trip Q's. A couple of questions. He bet 6 times the BB (on the first hand no less) was I wrong to put him on a low-mid pair or ak/aq? I know you vary your play but do yall bet this much with premium hands Preflop or put in a standard raise of 3X to entice(sp) callers? Has to be the quickest exit in tourny history. Sat down at the table at 12:06, heading to the rail at 12:08:142smilie

wrong, marine and bdb. this case anyway. i think it was obvious the guy hit a set and i would have folded without too much thought.

big preflop raise then check/raise for all his money. so obvious. i fold face up.

i can dodge bullets, baby :D

If i were player A, I would have just raised 3X BB and probably got a few callers b4 u......

I dont see why someone would raise six times the big blind so early in the tourney (when pots r usually small). U made the right decision to call the ALL IN reraise, but if i were u i wouldnt have called the 6X BB raise in the first place to be honest...... just too early in the tourney to risk 6X BB w/ a pair of jacks.... sounds like u were banking on trips..

Funny game that poker... we all see things so differently.
