If i were player A, I would have just raised 3X BB and probably got a few callers b4 u......

I dont see why someone would raise six times the big blind so early in the tourney (when pots r usually small). U made the right decision to call the ALL IN reraise, but if i were u i wouldnt have called the 6X BB raise in the first place to be honest...... just too early in the tourney to risk 6X BB w/ a pair of jacks.... sounds like u were banking on trips..

Funny game that poker... we all see things so differently.

good point. i would have folded JJ too! and never would have been in that position.

very good point.

I wouldn't have called the preflop bet of $300. 6x big blind, first hand of tourney you don't have a feel for anything yet. That is 10% or 1/10th of your stack and you havn't even seen a single flop yet. AA, KK & QQ have you beat. AK, AQ & KQ have 2 over cards. No problem folding preflop there, you have nothing invested at that point, still have all $3,000 of your chips... normal $150 or $200 bet and I call...

Jack - you play way too tight.

for me, honestly i think i would be popping it like its hot preflop even. maybe bump it up to 800 or so.
if he comes over the top then, yea i can probably fold. but the way it played out, i cant see how you fold it. you just gave up half your chip stack. on the first hand if you fold.
what is the point of playing super short stack poker at hand #2 of a tourney?

love the helmouth quote too.

Then again, with player A... "maybe he's got a plane to catch"

I know what you are saying and I agree. What made me call though was the amount he bet preflop. That is the reason I asked about preflop bets with queens(especially that early) I never thought he would play QQ that way and thought for sure he was holding AQ when he pushed. I fully understand JJ is no world beater but in this case it was my failed read of his original bet that doomed me. Thanks for all the input.

while I agree this might have gotten me out of the hand, if he just calls are you not sitting in the same place?

Yea.... sounds like the guy was a donkey and just got the best of it this time... he probably wouldve done just the same w/ AK............ nothing is right about opening w/ a raise of 6X the BB that early in the tourney.... nothing.

Live tourny 1st hand antes 25-50 players begin with 3000 chips. Player A in 2nd position bets 300. Player B in 5th position holds JJ and calls. Flop comes A Q J. Player A checks. Player B bets 1000. Player A raises all in. What should Player B do?

fold  I know it is playing scared, but too many possibilities possible straight, possible higher set no way I play with JJ

Is this a joke? There is no discussion here IMO, not in a short stack tourney like this. LOL!!!

Even Hellmuth insta-calls here. Anyone who says they would fold is FULL OF SHIT. Even if you think you should fold, which is wrong, you couldn't follow through.

Online tourney:

All in, see you're beat, break your mouse, log onto Redtube, Jack off, kick the dog, hiit the bong, go to bed.

Hope that helps

yup. pretty much :D but you can feel better about it happening then I guess?

Then again, putting myself in his shoes, I can't really make a case to just flat call in that spot.

It'd be either push or fold given the stakes.
