A few ideas I have for teams that might go into this week a little unfocused...
New England - Big "prove it to us again" game Week 1 on MNF vs Pitt...they pass that test. Big divisional game vs rival Jets in Week 2...they crush them. Offence scores 30 and 44 pts respectively...defence allows just over 10 PPG. Now they host non-div opp. KC in a game that pales in comparison to the first two. Line has finally caught up to the talent level, people are starting to believe in NE. Do they ease up against the Chiefs?
Denver - Wow, they knock off two of the NFC's most powerful teams, the Rams and the 49ers, in back to back weeks. They gotta be feeling pretty good about themselves huh? Now they get Buffalo. Do they care, do they notice?
San Diego - After outscoring two of the worst 3 teams in the league by a combined score of 58-9, with a rookie QB at the helm to boot, they must be feeling pretty good about themselves. Now a trip to non-conf, unheralded Arizona. Matchup vs undefeated New England on deck for these Chargers, thoughts of that big game in their heads? Hmmmm...
NY Giants - Biggest win for this team in a long while, knocking off the Rams in their park. Home they come to play a winless Seattle team that can't scare them a whole lot.
Carolina - Two wins in a row! Almost parade time in Charlotte I would think. Is it possible for a team this bad to be overconfident? Probably. Of course, both wins were at home, against two teams (Balt and Det) with virtually no offence, and certainly no QB for either. Now the Panthers head out for their first road game against a Viking team off a nasty loss. And Minny does have a QB and passing game that is, oh, not bad.
I'd also include a couple other teams in here (Dallas - the big monkey is off their backs, they got their win to erase the previous embarassment and should now revert to their usual ways; Philly - huge MNF win to take control of the division, now face letdown against a team they don't take seriously). But these two teams play each other unfortunately.
BTW these are not my picks for this week (yet). Just angles I am looking at to inspire a little discussion.
Discuss!
