I think it will be over quickly, just like last time. Intense, strategic bombing, followed by very quick infantry sweeps from the north and south (to prevent them form torching the oil wells again)

We really need to exterminate Saddam this time.

I do care about my family being in Lebanon and I do care about my well being and the fact that I can get activated any time of the day like so many of my army friends have....

but in the end, when the war is over - I want the money....

As Notorious B.I.G. once said... "Money, clothes, and hoes is all a ni**a knows..."

I can understand your worry over your family being so far away.

I thought that the whole point of joining the service was to ready to be activated. Thats why the country trains its young men. To protect our freedoms and to protect and serve our society.

When you try to make money on such things it usually backfires anyways. But you go ahead and keep sinking your cash into the market and do your stock shorting. Good plan.

As far as what Notorious B.I.G. once said I know I am down for that shit.

Actually I started shorting the market back in June at 9513, I shorted it at that time due to all the debt in this nation - never based it on any possible war....if the dow goes to 5000 iam selling my contract. Closed at under 8000 today....so far so good

Bought 3 gold contracts last week too - but my brother owns half of them :( IMO - I think gold will go past its all time high of 800...I`ll be in gold for the long run...

Hellah-war generally stimulates the economy, you may want to pocket that nice profit you have made. Gold & other precious stables are generally hoarded during wars, you'll probably do well there!

Good luck

Didn't here alot of new stuff today. I think we all new what he was going to say. If not you have not been alive since 1989 when it all started. Or you were to young to give a shit. I always did find it funny how ready some guys are to go to war. As long as they don't have to worry about going. Was like that during Nam. Had lots of college kids hideing behind there books or up in Canada that never showed up to help. Same in Korea. At that time during the Korean conflict. Our colleges set records for attentance.
Some one above feals this will go quickly. Whats quick 30 days 60 days. I don't care if its 10 days. Beready for the high cost for those 10 days.
I see some one is not shamed by trying to make money on the war. Why should he be. Hes right in there with many other rich dudes that will try to gain from this war. For sure we have some very large companies that will proffit big time. Then they will hire the best lawyers and accountants to try to avoid paying taxes.
The true Americam way.
Marine Thks for still serving our country we need more like you. Im to old now. They dont call 60 year old's back in. Im also proud to pay my taxes. If I made more money would not care if I had to pay more. I have the best place there is to live bring up a family
and grand kids. That gives me the right to worry about this war and all our young folks that are going in harms way. And for those of you that are so dam ready to go to war. Get over and sign up for your 4 years. For those all ready there like Marine Thank You. to.

I agree with Shamrock 100%!!! I have told many friends of mine that 7500 was the bottom...it's been tested and may get tested again, but I don't think that we'll ever get close to 5000

...as far as the national debt goes, you can refer to my diatribe regarding the flat tax in the other thread to see that we do pretty well in this country financially when a war is going on.... wait, let me find you a quote....

taoist said:
What WWII did was to initially increase the deficits tremendously and you know what the tax rate went to during WWII? 94%!!! Because you had to fund the war effort.... Now if increasing taxes diminishes economic productivity, then I guess we should have been totally shocked when the maximum tax rate went to 94% so maybe it only diminishes productivity if you don?t have a good war going on....

Here's the thread....

...but I want to wish you the best of luck in your ventures, buddy. You just keep posting me a few winners in the MAC.... ;)

maybe once the war is over and the US helps build a democracy in Iraq, the preferred method of transportation in Iraq will be those jet cars

If you bought everything that was presented today, you were probably sold long ago in the first place.

The rest will have a couple of obvious questions:

How old are those taped conversations and images? They could be a couple of weeks old but they don't have to be, right? It's certainly not 'irrefutable'.
And that's assuming they are genuine (how hard is it to fake a phone conversation??)

With all this intelligence information supposedly available, why does the US government refuse to cooperate with the inspectors and pass this info on when it could help in actually finding something?

And so on...

Remember Nayirah and the incubators story. Or do a search if you don't.
