My buddy bought a house to be a rental a few years ago and it had a nasty, rotting old fence and a garage that was in poor shape, too.
Since the house was a rental he didn't want to spend any money to replace the fence or the garage but he wanted to try and make them look better than they were for potential tenants.
He borrowed a power washer and started in on the fence--and 5 minutes in he knocked down a section of it. He gave up on the fence and turned to the garage--and proceeded to blast several holes through the rotted wood of the garage--he ended tearing both the fence and garage down...:mj07:

I am a believer of one of Dirty Harry's quotes...." A man has got to know his limitations "....LOL

I have a very bad back so I also hire people to power wash, paint, landscaping, or any other type of labor work & am not ashamed to admit it....And even if I didn't have back problems I doubt that I would do it anyway....I am a believer in having people do what they do best & I do what I do best, which at this stage is not much....LOL....

I agree AR...I prefer to have my yard mowed, landscaping and house cleaned by professionals  by the time I buy gas, lawnmower, mulch, etc...I spend just about as much as hiring it done...my yard looks the best of any in my neighborhood...I also use chemlawn for fertilizer, I did the math and I come out ahead:shrug:

I concur with this. I mow my own yard, because I enjoy it and love watching the sprinklers come on after with a cold one, but that is it.

I pay to have everything else done, washing my car, shoveling, house cleaning, dry cleaning my clothes, tree trimming, handy man to fix shit, and oil changes.

Also, the only time my wife borrowed the neighbor's power washer was to clean our front porch and furniture and she stripped so much of the paint off the front railings had to have it repainted.

Hedgy, I disagree. If you don't mind doing your own yardwork, you'll come out waaay ahead moneywise. I do all of my own yardwork and I must say that my yard looks fantastic! :)

I'm thankful that we don't have grass & most of my plants are from the cactus family, so there isn't much work to do....

Money is not an issue for me, and I hate working in the yard, I was forced to as a kid growing up and with my wife, 25 bucks a week is worth it too me :0074 To each their own...

Money is not the issue for me either. I just prefer to do it myself. As you said, to each their own. :0074

Lets get together over a beer sometime. :toast:

As Morris and some others recommended, if you are going to do it get one with the power to actually be useful. I bought one that does not have enough power and now it collects dust.

I'd never pay someone to mow my lawn. Some of the best memories in the making right now....having my 2yo son run and grab his plastic mower and push along side me :toast:
