Have a few questions. was thinking of sending in a few dimes for college hoops conference season, and I am TIRED of walking into western union with all that cash and get funny looks from the lady who thinks I am like a criminal.....bank wire is ok but again makes you feel like a criminal

1) does anyone here use pre paid atm? how have your experiences been?
2) How did you deposit into pre paid atm? do you trust it in the future>

thanks for the help everyone, just seems everyone is watching us and it's getting harder to get any decent amount of money offshore anymore, Thanks a lot

PPATM had a lot of fees associated with it that I did not like. It was a painless, but slow process to get money into an account. To get a payout I requested a check rather than going to the ATM because I didn't want to pay any fees. Again, getting the check was a bit slow as well. Personally, I would stick to Neteller, Western Union or bank checks. I use e-checks a lot, too.

I dont like western union because I told you, I hate getting a funny look and all from going to the place to do it, and I hate bringing a wad of cash, and makes me feel like a criminal. how much are the fees for pre paid? is it hard to get $ into the acct?

I am a big fan of PP ATM. Different fees depending on book- almost always no fees to transfer in, and a small 3-5 dollar fee to transfer out (Carib for example though has no fees in or out). A 3 dollar fee for each ATM transaction (half bank, half PP ATM). Only drawback is a 500 dollar day limit on ATM withdrawals per day. Like Nick said, they do mail checks as well as electronic transfer to a bank account. I don't think the fees are bad at all, as long as you make max amount transactions, it comes out to less than 1%.

If I want to fund a few offshore accounts with a couple of dimes, which is a decent amount of money, how should you fund the pre paid atm account, and how do you get your card, in the mail? Thanks guys for the help so far

for that amount, all at once I assume, the best way would be via bank wire

well I am going to send a few times, but may send a few times to a few different places, bank wire just makes me feel like a criminal and I am worried about IRS etc although thats probably stupid, I just ran into some hassles last time I did it was wondering if neteller and prepaid atm are more trust worthy

thanks s-love. kind of "stepping up another level" but basically going to treat it more of an investment and want to have a nice chunk in a few different books I just want to get the money there in the least amount of hassle, its a damn shame its a hassle getting money offshore, I thought the harder thing is picking winners, lol thanks for the help if anyone else can share some insight

Try Neteller if you don't have an account there. I dunno about in NY, but in CA you can just make a deposit at a Bank of America in cash and it is in your account in about a half an hour with no fees. Also you can do an ACH payment to the account with no fees, but that takes about 3-4 business days. Payouts via Neteller take about 3-4 business days and they do them via ACH. I have actually got paid most of the time in two days, 3 tops. For that amount of money, stick to Neteller rather than PPATM.

Thanks Jack and Nick.....I did an EFT from neteller, took 4 business days, but was nice and easy, I dont want to use credit card as you alluded to jack because I dont want to have a high balance, looks like neteller the only way to go, but I like pre paid atm's idea because you dont have to wait for check in the mail or to be fed-ex'ed you can just go to an atm and take a few hundred bucks in cold hard cash, the couple dollar fees dont bother me, but I think neteller is the most preferred way, thanks guys, any other help appreciated

Mike, if you don't mind paying a few bucks for every $500 cash w/d, then by all means go with PPATM. Either that or get a Neteller ATM/debit card and do the same thing using Neteller.

Nick, I dont really mind paying a couple dollars for the withdrawls from PPATM. my main issue is how to get the 2,3,4 dimes or whatever into my prepaidatm account, or neteller, I know the elctronic checks but havent used them, and neteller has EFT. but those are the only easy ways I know of, and you certainly dont wanna be noticed by the tax man

Mike,

I have deposited 4 figures to a Neteller account by making a cash deposit into a Bank of America account right at a branch by my house. Just call Neteller to ask them how in your area. Money is in there in 30 mins or less. You just fax them the receipt for the deposit with the phone number of the bank so they can verify that it was done with cash, and you are good. Then to get money out I believe Neteller now has an ATM card. Not sure, you'd have to check that part.

thanks Nick, think thats the avenue Im going to go, have to look into the neteller card though...I assume most banks would work for this not just bank of america? If the moneys already in the bank, I guess an electronic funds transfer is the way to go, but those take 4 days, plus Id venture to guess anything more than a few grand may trigger some things, just dont know really, I wish there was one really easy way, I wonder what the big boys do in terms off shore stuff, but neteller seems to be the only viable option that everyone vouches for, pay pal got many horrible reviews and I havent touched them since those
