As much as I can't wait until NFL pre-season starts, one of the best things I have done in the last few years is using the games to prepare for wagering in the regular season.

If I wager on them I do it lightly. Its impossible to get a good grasp on pre season games with all the players playing that will not be around when the regular season starts.

Camps start now this week.

Hou +1 --- Play of the Year

Could very well be. KC is an established vet team........Herm is a "players coach" many of the vets will be taking it easy all preseason. Houston, on the other hand will be looking to create a "winning" attitude and will most likely play hard all 4 quarters. KC might be up in the first half, but it will be all Houston in the 2nd.

St. Louis/Indi over 38.5...Love it.

...can't believe it has dropped down from 41! (Guess people really don't like pre-season 'overs').

And Jax +3.

not sure i like that over. while these are 2 offensive minded teams, why would they run their pretty set first team offenses heavy in week 1 of NFLX?

why not see how the backups do? why not focus on their defense when that has been their achilles heel the past few years?

i expect to see peyton and crew in for maybe 1 or 2 series and then we'll see backups on offense. i would think Indy would focus on the running game to see who their #1 will be....and running running running = grinding the clock.

dont see the need for stlous to keep rb, qb, or wrs out there long. i would expect stl to want to win this game but focus on defense.

i like stl -3 here. i dont think indy will give to shiiiits about winning here. just focus on running and defense. stlouis' new coach will probably try a little hard to bring winning to the team/city in game 1.

the rams are going to be a different team on offense this year. they are going to highlight steven jackson more & go to shorter passes to try & keep bulger healthy.

Thanks guys, but my mind is set on this one! :D

sdf, they won't run their first string offenses for more than a series or two...but on the flip side, they won't run first string defenses for any longer.

Some good QB depth on both sides...Sorgi plays well every pre-season, Shaun King...
The Rams have Frerotte, who still has one of the best arms in the NFL imho, Fitzpatrick has done it all before, and Ragone.

Last year St. Louis scored 17 (30 total @ Chicago), 21 (56 total), 37 (50) and 21 (50)...
...Indi 21( 48), 10 (27), 17 (41), 24 (61)...and 0-38 in the last, so both teams tend to rack the points up.

Remember the new coach has been an offensive co-ordinator, and has already said his philosphy is to 'attack'.

I do agree that St. Louis are likely winners tho, and that taking the -3 could be the best option...hopeflly both will come in.

Thanks AR, but I think that first game of a new year will be a bit of fun, and they'll want to put some points on the board...hopefully!! :D

Anyway, I'm sure we'll know more about each teams' game plans later in the week.

i guess i'm not so sure. what does stlouis KNOW? qb and wr are pretty set. RB is set. backup RB is not set. and the new coaching regime in stl wants to RUN RUN RUN. this isnt your martz' rams here.
and stlouis' defense has been soso. you would think they'd put some emphasis on testing out the defense here instead of putting in a bunch of backups after 1 series.

what does indy know? QB and WR. they dont know RB or backup RB. iso you have to expect indy to RUN RUN RUN ,to get a better feel for who their starter will be...and exactly how good is Addai? dont see them needing to have Sorgi do a lot because they know he's the #2 guy.

a lot of running can really grind a clock in the NFL, especially when coaches arent really that interested in scoring.

you looked at last year's stlouis scores, but that was with a different coaching staff.....especially with Martz who loves to thrown. especially when they still had some question marks at QB

but seems like no matter what info i give you, the over is the play.

it is interesting to note that the total has been beat down a couple of points. do you really think joe public did that?

It's good to believe in your opinions but you have to remain flexible.

StL/Indy game is a game I'd give a look to the under. sdf, you made a lotta good pts.

Yes, I do.
Why? Because it's a pre-season game, and people love playing pre-season unders...because of back-up's on offenses and coaches don't necessarily want to score.
It was the only game on the board over 38...and now it's not.

Like I already said, we will get more detailed info on game plans, and what the coaches want to achieve closer to game time, so it would be (imo) silly to put any $ down more than a day or so out anyway.
...still plenty of time to get some real idea's together.
