Exactly. If Republicans could get past their visceral hatred of Obama, they'd see that he's governing from the middle. Progressives have MUCH more to be dissatisfied with Obama about than those on the right do. He's perpetuating the Bush/Cheney wars, the "too big to fail" myth of Wall Street, he sold us out on Single-Payer healthcare and may not even deliver a Public Option, he upheld FISA, backed off his promise to close Gitmo... the list goes on an on.

Meanwhile the Republican base is sitting around coffee shops talking about birth certificates, imaginary redistribution of wealth and preventing the socialist government from killing grandparents.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

thanks for running with this a bit more than I did, Trench.
The most ironic thing to me is that if EITHER side would get their heads out of their asses and LISTEN to the VOTING public and get something of real substance done, they could govern for 20 or more years.
I voted for Obama and I'll vote for the Socialists or some other 3rd party in 2012. Did I fall for Obama's "I'm a liberal" act? Hell, no. Did I want the Republican party to govern 4 more years. DOUBLE hell no.
I do laugh at(or with, depending on the person) my "progressive" friends who can't believe that Obama is nothing more than George Jr lite. i told them that their red-hot hatred of Jr and the Republicans, while well-earned, was no reason to anoint Obama as the savior for the Left and their beliefs.

Listen to the public? The public has wanted a health care option since the 1970s. The two party system we have now is a joke. There is just enough difference between the parties to make the average American believe they have a choice. Of course we know they really don't. Sad times.

This is politics. This is goverment . And you cant put it all on a President. There are so many things that are completely out of a Presidents control when it comes to taxation.

Its a never ending cycle.

no i don't live in a cave. do you want more taxes to be distributed to other "things" or do you want less government and keep more of what you earn? taxes are necessary. we are out of control. you are on one side of the fence or the other. O wants to take more of mine and give to what he feels is proper. bush was a f'ing pimp that sold out just like O. he's lied on every front. bring em' home, no lobbyist, blahblahblah. keep your heads buried in the sand. he's a smooth talking bush.

For some reason, this thread reminded me of a story Ralph Nader told in an interview he gave during the campaign last year. Nader often talks about how his parents always taught by asking questions and when he was 11 years old, his father asked him "Do you know why capitalism will always succeed?" When he couldn't answer the question, his father said "Because capitalism will always make socialism save it".

Three days after that interview, the bill authorizing TARP was signed into law and Bush and Paulson immediately released $350 billion of the $700 billion Wall Street bailout.

Wisdom like that is why I voted for Ralph Nader in '96, '00 and '04.

Makes no sense, I'm sure a trickle of piss rolls down your leg every morning when you hear the Rush Limbo theme song so you can nod your head in unison, because of course, RUSH IS RIGHT ?

I don't think he is talking like this shit just started, I think his fun meter is in the red, and he is voicing his displeasure about the shit state that we are in.

A 1 party system that goes by 2 different names and it constantly comes up with new reindeer games to cornhole the people.

Where it is real F ing COLD
I would vote for a Republican in 2012 if I didn't like how the Obama admin finished his first campaign but this is what turns me off from some of them and their supporters. In no particular order.

1. Watching ulta religious conservatives drive me nuts. Constant preaching and denouncing of the democratic party. Seems like they want you to think that the demcocrats are the devil.

2. Always making gun laws an issue. That is all you hear about from NRA and some of the gun nuts. "They are going to take my guns." Please.. It just gets sickening. There would be a big revolt if they tried too.

3, Limbaugh, Hannity, and the other conservative radio stations.. According to them they are NEVER wrong and do not let people who oppose their views speak without interrrupting or taking the conversation to a NEW level.

These are just the few that I can think of right now..

I will try to reply to bleedingpurple without kissing his ass, according to skulnik....

Very well said Viking Fan !

I do not trust the NRA, they are always begging me for cash, good luck, you can have my annual fee and send me my 1st Freedom Magazine, but I am not telling you what I own. The NRA, and I know some are going to hammer me for this, so what... is a National Gun Registry, I know every purchase I make the firearms are registered, but do you think all that info can be consolidated better by the BATF than what the NRA can do? :mj07:

And then there is shout radio.... OMG those idiots are so damn smart, why do they even take calls?

This is true... Ralph Nader could save the country with a complete overall of the congress and the senate.
Trench you have posted the only thing that makes any sense in this forum.
If only we could vote these pieces of shit out of office.
How will you and I be able to accomplish such a drastic change in our imprisoned world. If you are not a slave to the system today then you will be tomorrow.
It's easy to say we need change and to revolt against the corruption and march on the white house, easily said but lets be honest, no way in hell will the powers that be let this happen. The military is in place to squash such a thought, home land security just didn't come about by accident.
The biggest danger are the BANKS and our very own Military, the day will come that an uprising will take place and our military , "which will probably be outsourced by then ", will squash any rebellion by the citizens of this country.
I'm all for replacing the system we have and I think we should crown a KING, and RALPH NADER would make a damn good one... stop the fucking FED in its tracks ... and change the currency back to the gold standard, do away with fiat money.
I'm all for a complete change in our government, public hangings and bring back the guillotine , a few heads need to roll. Don't you think !!
