I don't think so Matt--In fact would say their chance of having majority after 2010.
From a history standpoint most pres that come into power during recession have good chance that things will correct (by themselves for most part) Reagan and GW last 2 examples.
Believe things will not look so rosey by 2010--in fact could be much worse.
In addition -the O myths that he ran on have been exposed.

"hope and change" depends apon which side of the distributing your on.
His biggest prob is his narcissitic character -he has now alienated the press and they are no longer giving him free ride--
