The Thailand trip was fun. I really liked the day we spent playing with Elephants at a reserve. Also, we got to play with Tigers at another reserve. That was pretty cool. Tracked wild Elephants a couple of times and that was pretty neat. Two of the nights we spent in a flimsy raft house over 30 feet of water. It was a 10x10 room with nothing in it and no electricity or bathroom. The walk to get there was a 1 foot wide 50 foot plank with no lighting and no railing. The bathroom was 200 feet away. There were no showers. I could have done without that place. We did see some cool animals there though. Got attacked by leeches two times at the raft house. That wasn't too fun. We also spent two nights in a tent. We cancelled the two nights in the treehouse because we found out that you had to walk an hour and a half with your bags to get to the treehouse, had to share it with other people and weren't given and mosquito netting. Lori hasn't loaded all of the pictures yet. I will post them when she does. The weather was in the 80's except Bangkok was in the 90's. I did not like not knowing 1 word of their language although we did have a guide. They have lots of temples, Buddha statues and massage parlors. We each got a few massages there (And no, nobody offered me anything). The massages cost around $10 per hour. Some things were strange like how they drink soup at every meal, including breakfast. Also, they are constantly making offering to many things, including non-living, non-religious objects. Pretty weird. They say that "they are paying their respects" to such things, but "not worshipping them". Overall, the trip was fun, but I rate Uganda higher. Although, the food, accomadations and roads are significantly better in Thailand. I was not pissed that Lori picked Thailand.
The brochures all show that Thailand has a lot of animals to see, but in reality, it doesn't. Thailand has killed off many of its animals into extinction. It is my pick where our December 11' trip will be (we alternate each year). I am leaning towards Australia, but it is still early.
