Romney/Lieberman combo. Interesting mix, Wayne. We've spent the week arguing in the other thread, just thought I'd give you props for looking outside the normal box there.
I guess in many ways I consider the President to be a figurehead of sorts, and admire those that are galvanizing, motivating, and strong. I don't think that you can look at a person's political party affiliation as being a determining factor, but I think the President of our country has to be a striking figure of sorts.
I guess (off the top of my head) I would look for some of the following characteristics/Presidents in the Mr. Potato Head President:
John F. Kennedy: A person admired by many, excellent orator and able to express deep thoughts in his leadership, from a strong family in our country that lends itself to leadership. Strong in his convictions.
Ronald Reagan: Strong in his message and convictions, unbending in his role as leader of the country, aggressively pushed for a new way of doing the business of the country, and the combo worked very well after years of not being positive. Strong leader abroad at a time when we needed it.
Bill Clinton: wonderful personality, able to engage all people and get them on our side worldwide, thoughtful and realistic in most policies to the point of being against his own party.
George W. Bush (will be brief here): Strong in his convictions (to a fault), a good delegator of responsibility, allowing people he put in positions of power to do their job.
W's Daddy: Impressed me greatly with his handling of the first Iraq war, galvanized worldwide support in dealing with the toughest situation he had to deal with, unlike many others in his party. Seems to be a thoughtful man, and although didn't accomplish much, I think was a decent man at the helm.
Jimmy Carter: A true statesman, compassionate, extremely intelligent, incredibly hard worker, and eternally optimistic.
Richard Nixon: Accomplished wonderful things, a great statesman, especially in countries we had never worked with, pragmatic, a man who had the best interest of the country at heart, other than his own insecurities, which hurt him.
Barack Obama: Motivational, a genuine person in many ways, a fighter against so many detrimental groups against him (his color), a motivator due to his race, and a uniter abroad due to his race. Wonderful orator, and able to express himself and his sense of humor publicly unlike most Presidents.
I can take issue and be negative against all of these Presidents. Just thought I'd weigh in with what I consider (off the top of my head) the positives in all the Presidents I'm remotely familiar with. I am not a fan of LBJ, nor Gerald Ford, but I know they have plenty of strong points, too.
Hows that for all positivity in a Potato Head?
