On the course!
Why do some of you guys do this:

You title a post such as this

"Tonight's plays"

and when we open it up, it is like a mini-ad, or something.

"4-2 last night, and plus 2 units. Be back later with my plays."

What is that all about? Why not just post when you actually have your plays?

I do this once a week and post all my plays throughout in that thread. I think this is better than having 82 different threads about Louisville/SMU. Louisville is the way to go. SMU is the way to go.

If anybody gave two shakes about any play I make, they can go to one thread and see them. I start the thread early, usually on Tuesday, so I can accurately put my record up while I am not studying games. Add games later in one spot.

I guess it is just a preference.

That's kind of different, though. I still think you might short yourself on reader's doing that, but that's the way you like it. Plus, people know you only have one thread.

My point is......if you are going to have a thread that says, "Tonight's plays", why not wait until you have a play to make that post? What possible reason could a person have for making that post?

I see what you are saying now. I have seen it where they say "I've got a big one for tonight..." You open the thread and it says they have more research to do and they will be back later to post. I have noticed that in the past and thought it was weird.

My threads usually are titled "Week XX (starting Tuesday)".

I think they might do it to see how much attention is drawn to their thread. I remember when I first started coming here, I always wanted to start a thread that flamed up. I think the first one that I had was something about a vacation or something.

Looking back, this place has changed dramatically. I started coming here when another boards servers were down a couple of days and someone mentioned this site. As soon as I got here, I never went back to the other one.

yyz: LOL!!!!!!!!!

Kind of frustarting when you see a capper post his plays and all you get it: "Back later with the plays" with their record. Just think that's funny. like you said, when you're ready to post, POST!!

Just a little aggrevating. just my 2 cents.

Know what else kind of gets under my skin a little. when you post a 1/2 time thread and people ONLY post their 1/2 time plays in THEIR OWN THREADS! It's like ME vs THE TEAM!!

POST IN BOTH FOLKS!!!! sorry, just a peave of mine. OK now slam me for this post!

I myself have been guilty of doing this on occasion. My reasoning, sometimes it's easier depending where I'm at. I don't write "I have a super duper really big play for tonight so stay tuned and I will give it to you when I'm good and ready play". For me sometimes it's easier to post the record and maybe a recap to get it out of the way. I know there have been times that I started the thread with all intentions of posting, then get sidetracked. (IE work or family life)

For what It's worth, I don't come here to help people be better gamblers with info like.....

This team does this when they are 115-8 when it's raining and the stadium crew turns the lights on early at 4:15 pm, they pop tarts for breakfast, and only crapped once in the morning while reading the sports page on wednesdays, but when that happens on Thursdays the team is 2 -47.

Ultimately I am here right now to learn and make myself a more desciplined handicapper through insight, money managment, and better record keeping. If in turn I can help someone else through any information I may provide or a past experience that is fantastic and what this site is about.

As far as posting plays in both threads, I agree, but maybe not everyone has the time to do that, or desire for that matter. I try to do both because it helps me with my records and the Team to win.

No one will ever do everything that will please eveybody. That's just life. If it pisses anyone off that bad, why read said person's threads?

Not sure if that's exactly what you were looking for YYZ or not. Since I don't do it all the time it's really just situational for me. Can't say why the people that do it all the time do. Just their bag I guess.

Best of luck

"...Quo fas et gloria ducunt..."
good point YYZ.....

i'm one of the MAIN offenders who does this....

i'll TRY to change.....!!!!!

:( :nooo:

and since we're on the topic....

personally, i look for a poster who tracks their record (w / l) in their thread....i have more confidence to follow their plays then the person who just appears and says,

"hey, pick these!!!!!"

and when they have one losing day, their ego's hurt and they disappear....
