"If you flip that coin 100 times, you have slightly greater than 54% probability of getting a streak of 7 heads or tails at least once. In other words, it is more probable than not that simply the expected distribution of random events will provide you a streak of 7 in a row, in this sample size. (This fact sheds some light on betting sports trends, I might add)."

This reminds me of my gambling days when I would take a bankroll of $400 to the casino. My betting strategy consisted of a progressive betting system. The game was blackjack and my base bet was $15. If I lost any hand I would return to the base bet. Here was the progression.

$15 W
$30 W
$55 W
$100 W

After I win 3 hands in a row I am at my maximum bet of $100. I stay there until I lose a hand. On splits and doubles I consider it one bet and don't advance the above progression. I will hit on 16 or less into a dealers 7, 8, 9, or 10.

I found this system okay. Anyone with suggestions to tweak it is welcome to respond. But the key was to stick with the system no matter how the cards appeared to be running. I will also begin tipping the dealer once I reach the maximum bet ($5 play along).

I think the key concept in blackjack is time. Once I have this system in place, the longer I stay at the table, the house odds will eventually catch up and I will lose. The only thing the player has going for him is choice. The greatest fallacy in blackjack is that ties are a push. I never remember getting my money back when both the dealer and I had 23.
