just looked at week 1 lines for the 1st time

been busy so haven't got to see when they opened...

every single game total is above 40...

my question:

is this the first time that has ever happened on an opening week?????????

the NFL has changed, and I understand that, but wow I was blown away when I saw every total that high, including the fuckin browns and fins

what in the world should we make of this?????? are they knowing everyone will be on overs after last year and trying to get some good numbers for them.....or are they really trying to persuade you to play the under and get rocked all year again...

that is first thing that stood out to me atleast

I don't know that I take anything out of that. I have 1 game, TB-NYJ at 39 1/2. Last year opening day there were only two games with lines under 40. I think its just a fluke.

Speaking about the Dolphins and Browns totals, both teams have much improved offenses. One thing that I think will help overs this year is the threat of penalties on the defense. With the NFL becoming more of a passing league, the advantage goes to the recievers because of the new rules regarding shots to the head. If it even looks like a blow to the head, and even if a defensive player leads with their shoulder, a penalty will be called. Advantage - offense, which will lead to more points scored.

A more subtle factor that I'm sure is making a difference the last couple years is how ridiculous kickers have become. 55+ yard field goals have become routine.

Both excellent points. There are going to be some laughably easy overs this year.

Hasn't happened in the last 24 seasons - I don't know about before that. And in the last two seasons, the 8 totals that were posted under 40 for the first week were 7-1 O/U.

Good luck this season, addict!
