I'm guessing almost every coach who has spent much time in the profession has heard stories about pedophiles in the business. Just as there's probably not a middle school principal who hasn't heard one about a teacher. Might be why coach K sympathizes with him. I'm sure a lot of college coaches interacted with the disgraced former head of the AAU over the years and heard rumors and never thought of doing anything.
