Raven's Defense Most Overated In Nfl History.

Even last year's Raven's D was so overated. Baltimore played no one last year. To prove the point they played KERRY COLLINS in the super bowl. In the era of free- agency parity existed around the NFL. The vikings were 1 win away from the superbowl.

If anybody thinks the Raven's D was a good as expected, do you think they would have stopped any of the Cowboy or 49'ers teams, or even the Broncos teams.

They were basically a 12 week wonder, otherwise they would be strong this year too, and they've been very average at best on defense, considering the offensive juggernauts they play in their division like CINCY, CLeveland and the JAGS.

The point of this post is Miami backers don't be afraid of the Raven's D they were 12 week wonders last year,and lay the points.

Bains, Not a Ravens fan ,but if you watched years closely,Collins was scared shitless. Right from the get go ,you could just see he was too worried about the likes of Lewis putting him head first onto the mat

first off, the d from last year is long gone, this years version is slow ,and has had no pass rush since McCrary's injury. Last years team was very good ,but that was aided by playing 10 games dominating cream puff offences led by, Kitna no comment, Couch pratically a rookie, an injured Brunell and a lousy Kordell, 1-15 chargers and crappy cow-girls. Thats not very impressive and you can see why there defensive stats were so good, Granted they dominated the giants and Collins, but they showed they were not a SB calibre team


this team has had too many off field distractions, like the well hidden stories of corey harris wild drinking binges and Carnell Lakes wife beating charges and Jason brooking drug problems



last years d had some great stats but dont measure up to the great defences of the past like the STEEL CURTAIN OR ANY OTHER GREATS

Also not to mention the whole league found out that former PAC 10 PLAYER Chris Mcallister was the biggest fraud in the league. Also Rod Woodson has been spotted frequently at the Race track, and it is believed that he lost several thousands there. Good to see his priorities are on FOOTBALL.

The point is that the Ravens were abandoned by their offense this year and had to dig out of some rough spots. The Ravens will keep it close to the vest and rely on their defense to make the turnovers. While the Ravens have shown some signs of weakness in defending 4 receiver sets, I can?t see Feidler being able to be successful out of that offense or Wannstedt being comfortable resorting to that type of offense. The Ravens defense will carry them at least through the opening round.

I really don't know in the history of the league. But for sure the last two years. They had a very weak schedule last season as was brought up earlier. This year they were just plum overrated.

I would have to say they are overrated this year..IAm not sure about history...IAm only 22...Ive only been watching football for about 10 years...so I say in my 10 year span...Ravens D of last year was tops.

here we go again. same story, different year.

last year, the ravens didn't get any respect and won the superbowl.

"they didn't play anybody", but they went through the last years playoffs allowing only 1 touchdown in 4 games, playing nobodys like denver, tennessee, oakland and giants. three of those games on the road, with a quarterback (Dilfer) that 'everybody' said couldn't get the job done.

this year, they play the superbowl champion's schedule, yet they didn't play 'anybody. they didn't play pittsburgh, greenbay, denver, tennessee, chicago, a much improved cleveland. they are the 'only' team to beat pittsburgh IN pittsburgh. yet, they didn't play anybody. show me how much tougher miami's schedule was.

last year, their defense finished 2nd, to tennessee, in total yards given up for the whole year. that's overrated? this year, the defense finished 2nd, to pittsburgh, in total yards given up for the whole year. yep, they're over rated alright! and that's with all the injuries they've had.

i'll guarantee miami isn't taking this upcoming game as lightly as you are. i'm sure the rest of the afc playoff teams will be rooting for miami this week too. why? because they KNOW they'd rather face miami in a playoff game than the ravens.

i'm not nearly as confident, with their chances, as i was last year, but i'll tell you this; they will be coming to play. NOW, they have everything to play for. NOW, is the time for the champions to step up. all i can say is what i said all last year. "YOU'LL SEE"

I'm not calling you stupid, so don't get into a mudslinging contest, but your comment about him going to the track and losing thousands is absurd. Who really cares? He's got more than a few thousand dollars to blow, and for the love of god all athletes do things besides practice their sport 24 hours a day. Good points Jack, I guess a majority of their scores given up were a result of the offensive miscues. Last year they had very few offensive miscues and the defense was dominant. However this year maybe they haven't played their best game yet, and they may do it in the playoffs.

Sorry Wondo, about Woodson, I guess it's irelevant, but I believe it adds to the distractions on the Raven sidelines, and I was just pointing that out.

Even though I'm not a big Ravens fan, I predicted on Monday that Baltimore would probably win this game SU. I might even be more confident than you, but trying not to repeat myself too much, this game sets up perfect for a Raven upset win. I don't think Wanna (be a coach) stat can get the job done preparing his team or out coaching Billick. It's all Baltimore this week.

Then I really think the next week will be the time to go against them. Just my humble opinion.

Good God, you are telling me that Rod Woodson is losing thousands of dollars at the track? That is a definite shocker. I never realized that pro athletes gambled. It is a good thing Woodson's gambling problems never infected other guys like Pete Rose, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, etc.

Point #1........If you had been watching football for the last 30 years you would realize IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE SAME INTENSITY DURING THE REGULAR SEASON AFTER YOU HAVE WON THE WHOLE THING.......This is a fact in almost every sport......Check the AVS and Lakers and see how they are doing, they may have winning records but the intensity is not there yet

Point #2.........The first SB and playoffs I remember watching was the Colts and Cowboys i think 1971........In all those years I never saw a defense like the ravens last year except the Bears of 1985. The Ravens opponents in last years playoffs were lucky to get a first down let along a drive to score. You have to remember the Ravens beat a decent Bronco team then had to go on the road and beat Tenn and Oakland back to back, against Tenn they had to play their second game in a week compared to Tenn having a week off and Balt had to play their 3rd game in 2 weeks compared to Oakland having to play only their second game in 2 weeks.........Pretty Impressive.............

Point #3.........DONT WRITE OFF THIS RAVEN TEAM JUST YET, THEY STILL HAVE ALOT OF PRIDE AND THEY ARE THE CHAMPS. ALSO THEY HAVE NO FEAR OF ANY TEAM INCLUDING THE RAMS......

Just remember people : ELVIS WILL BE IN THE BUILDING ... fwiw , only "good" game I saw of his was against Denver in Denver ,and I guess he did have one game winning drive.
I know I'm i'm (anti-Grbac) but proof is in the stew so to speak, ELVIS has the ability to score 14 for the other team.

I respectfully think you are way off base here. I've been watching the pigskin for years and I never saw a defense like that of the Ravens last year. Singlehandily won the games leading up to and including the Superbowl. That team would run the ball 3rd and 8 in any game, when leading by any amount.
That said, this year.....sheesh...what a difference. Their defense is still ranked high though as they don't allow the rushing yards. Maybe Miami is the pick but they have been unimpressive in the last few weeks, so I'll take the Ravens as the lesser of the two evils.

Also, who cares about Woodsons interests. Athletes are people too. The difference is when they gamble, they are still rich when they lose. Many big name Stars own racehorses and it is not unusual to see them at the track.
