Seattle is still going strong. In fact, I think I read somewhere that it's one of the stronger markets in the country. This last year home sales were up 8 or 9%, which was the first time in 4 or 5 years there weren't double-digit gains.

I know 2 people who got loans on condos for roughly $130k in 2003 (with very small DP's), and both of their homes now appraise for over $250k just 4 years later. It's pretty damn hard to buy a place in this city!

Houston is strong. Most affordable place I have ever lived (housing being at the top of the list) and strong demand for labor.

my house has been on the market about 5 weeks now and only one showing, the first couple days.

yet, they keep building and building and building and building around here.

agents say it's slow all around here and in all price ranges and just roll their eyes at all the building going on.

most are spec homes. are these builders nuts or what?

foreclosures, i've heard, is about 5% in indiana and expected to blow up in the next 12-18 months.

who knows what's going to happen

if mine doesn't sell during my 6 mo contract, i'll just refi and weather the storm.
