So many rumors still afloat that make sense, including a very interesting theory about the timing of Bettemans press conference yesterday. I hate to hold out any form of hope, but post here if you can confirm anything.
I can't believe I am even considering there still may be a glimmer of hope, but there is too much smoke not to be at least a small fire.

:help:

THIS YEAR IS IN THE BOOKS.

THE PLAYERS WOULD BE DAMN SMART TO TAKE WHATEVER DEAL THEY CAN GET. AT LEAST HOCKEY PLAYERS CAN GET JOBS AS REAL ESTATE AGENTS OR CONSTRUCTION JOBS. IMAGINE IF THE NBA WENT ON FULL STRIKE. MAN THOSE BURGERS WOULD BE IN THE BAG AND INTO THE CAR FAST.

P, I posted in your other thread earlier in the day about what I had heard and read.

A few more......

Bettman on Detroit radio went on record and said the window to accept a deal is Friday.

Daly on MOJO Toronto: "If the players have a deal, pick up the phone!"

I also heard the new window is now Sunday nite. But I'd go with what Bettman said on Detroit Fan590.

The latest. This IS BIG if it's true......

Reported by Newsday on their website. The new NHLPA proposal:

46mil cap, BUT 100% luxury tax starting at 42mil, with an option of the cap dropping from 46mil to 42mil if more than EIGHT teams surpass the 42mil cap in one season.

THIS IS VERY WORKABLE, IMHO.

Hope they go with it if this is true.

Sounds to me like things are dead.

Locally the talk is that our own fearless Mr Pulford was one of the owners driving this car into the lake. He (and others) want nothing more than everthing to collapse. They have no interest in a possible season.

Actually, things are starting to heat up. Kevin Lee an hr ago on Team1200 in Ottawa reported the NHLPA is bringing 2 proposals to the table. One of while was the one described on Newsday in NY. And Goodenow doesn't even have to endorse it, as long as Trevor Linden, the NHLPA prez presents it to Bettman. And even if Bettman doesn't like it, as long as 23 of the 30 owners sign off on the proposed deal (IF), there's nothing Bettman can do.

Report from Dallas.....

Today Bill Guerrin cancelled an apperance to sign autographs at a radio event. He is good friends with the hosts of the show and would not do this if it wasn't very important. He does a weekly show with these guys. He called them off the air and told them he had to leave town immediately and hoped he had good news when he got back.

On a side note, he called Jason Arnott to take his place signing autographs and he did. I thought it was a class by both of them.

A good friend of mine in the media said he spoke with Chris Phillips of the Sens and Andreas Dackell of the Habs, both of them are booking flights out of Sweden this weekend.

Players are being notified to tell their Euro clubs that expect them to leave in 24 hrs.

You guys ready for the big one??

GOODENOW on his way now to NY WILL RESIGN BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND

Does this mean they might still play this season? Or is the cap stuff for next year?

The fallout from canclling the season was far worse than either side expected, especially when ESPN stepped in and said may would never cover NHL hockey again, so I would expect there will be a small season this year with many rule changes to insipre more scoring. I would just be glad to have hockey on schedule for next season.
Should be an interesting day today.

Grab the ignore button for WR's posts, he adds nothing at all to the forum and is just looking to argue with people or insult Americans, seriously ignore him and maybe he will go away.
