Zebulon, NC --- The Florida Marlins announced that Carolina Mudcats RHP Rick Vanden Hurk has had his contract purchased and will make his major league debut Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, FL.

Vanden Hurk impressed Marlins' first-year manager Fredi Gonzalez when he started one spring training game for the as a non-roster player, working four innings and permitting three runs in a no-decision. Vanden Hurk will become the first Marlin to make his major league debut without pitching a game in Double-A since Logan Kensing was summoned from the Jupiter Hammerheads (Florida State League) on September 10th of 2004 to start a game at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.
RHP James Brauer will replace Vanden Hurk on the Mudcats' roster and start Monday night's finale against Birmingham at 8:05 PM ET.
