Ron Paul Unleashes On TSA: ?Enough Is Enough?

Congressman introduces legislation to block immunity for federal goons who ?treat Americans like cattle?

In perhaps his most impassioned and irate speech to date, Congressman Ron Paul unleashed a tirade of vilification at the TSA and their security procedures that have stoked nationwide outrage, stating ?enough is enough? as he introduced new legislation to that would open the way for TSA employees to be sued for groping Americans or putting them through dangerous naked body scanners, preventing travelers ?from being treated like cattle?.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/d-N5adYM7Kw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/d-N5adYM7Kw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

During a speech on the House floor last night, Paul said that the treatment Americans were being subjected to at airports proved that the country as a whole needs to stand up and tell the federal government, ?enough is enough?.

?Imagine if the political elites in our country were forced to endure the same conditions at the airport as business travelers, families, senior citizens, and the rest of us. Perhaps this problem could be quickly resolved if every cabinet secretary, every member of Congress, and every department head in the Obama administration were forced to submit to the same degrading screening process as the people who pay their salaries,? roared the Congressman.

?Something has to be done,? Paul implored. ?Everybody?s fed up. The people are fed up. The pilots are fed up. I?m fed up.?

Visibly infuriated, Paul said the traveling public were being treated like farmyard animals.
?If this doesn?t change, I see what has happened to the American people is we have accepted the notion that we should be treated like cattle. Make us safe, make us secure, put us in the barbed wire, feed us, fatten us up, and then they?ll eat us. And we are a bunch of cattle and we have to wake up and say we?ve had it?. It?s time for the American people to stand up and shrug off the shackles of our government at TSA at the airport,? he raged, encouraging people to support the national opt out day [2] planned for November 24.

Paul?s legislation, the ?American Traveler Dignity Act,? is expertly crafted because it gives the feds no room to maneuver. If he had merely called for an end to certain pat down techniques, the government could have weasled out of it by invoking terror threats or changing semantics. However, once it is established that TSA employees are not immune to assault and harassment lawsuits, they will avoid groping Americans for fear of being sued. Numerous lawsuits of this nature [5] are already in motion.

Paul also addresses the use of naked body scanners, similarly opening the way for the TSA to be directly sued for producing images that are tantamount to pornography, and pedophilia in the case of children.

The bill is brief and gets straight to the point.
A BILL
To ensure that certain Federal employees cannot hide behind immunity.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. NO IMMUNITY FOR CERTAIN AIRPORT SCREENING METHODS.

No law of the United States shall be construed to confer any immunity for a Federal employee or agency or any individual or entity that receives Federal funds, who subjects an individual to any physical contact (including contact with any clothing the individual is wearing), x-rays, or millimeter waves, or aids in the creation of or views a representation of any part of a individual?s body covered by clothing as a condition for such individual to be in an airport or to fly in an aircraft. The preceding sentence shall apply even if the individual or the individual?s parent, guardian, or any other individual gives consent.

Indeed, the district attorney?s office in San Mateo County, California has already promised to pursue charges against TSA employees [6] whose behavior equates to sexual battery.

?If it is skin to skin, if someone were to take their hand and put it underneath somebody?s blouse and touch someone inappropriately and go skin to skin, that?s a felony, and if it?s done simply over the clothing, according to California law, that?s a misdemeanor,? said DA Steve Wagstaffe.

As we documented [7]in the case of radio host Owen JJ Stone, the TSA is now ordering its workers to stick their hands down people?s pants and touch genitalia.

In another case, TSA agents pulled down a 21-year-old woman?s blouse and started laughing and joking about her exposed breasts [8] while other TSA workers expressed their wish to obtain video of the incident, presumably so they could masturbate over the naked woman.

TSA abuse is now so wildly out of control that new cases are emerging on a daily basis. In the latest example, a woman from Ohio had her breasts and vagina aggressively groped by a TSA worker at Dayton International Airport last week. Read about her experience here [9]and watch the video below.

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jm9_Pt0fO_g?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jm9_Pt0fO_g?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

Napolitano, Pistole, and the rest of the feds hoped that they could lie and deceive the American people [10] into backing down on this issue. Now the revolt against the TSA is growing bigger every day and shows no signs of abating. Indeed, some are even speculating that we could be witnessing the embryonic stages of a new rebellion that will lead to a fundamental shift in America?s political landscape, just as the end the fed rallies in 2007 and the town hall fury we witnessed in 2009 led to the creation of the Tea Party and the wider move against big government.

We need to throw all our support behind Ron Paul?s bill and hold lawmakers? feet to the fire on this issue until the TSA?s power is completely rolled back if not the organization abolished altogether and airport security handed back to professional and credible organizations whose main concern is rational and successful security and not the ritual humiliation and degradation of the American people.

:toast:

What are we going to do when Ron Paul moves on from Congress? The ONLY man in any position of government power who actually cares about freedom. How sad is that?

Quotes about the terrible mistake of giving up freedom for security.... we have all heard them...

They aren't just sayings folks. They are true.

I've got mixed feelings on this issue.
--the key is none of the groping necessary if they agree to the scan.

.......................................................

from what I have read the machines are not infallible and still go off for no reason.

Many people still have to go through the pat down even though they go through the xray machine.

Might be wrong but still my answer--would be logical to just do these on all muslim passengers since they are responsible for 99.9% --but we got the liberal PC police/liberals--maybe we could include just them in scans along with muslims--and everyone would be happy. :)

Say doggie, how do you know who is a Muslim and who is not? Can you tell by looking?

You couldn't be more wrong. Liberals never wanted ANY of this. The TSA, FISA, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Patriot Act, and on and on were all conceived and pushed through by you over-reacting Nellie's on the right.

The right surrendered liberty for security. Where have you been for the last 9 years?

How did the underwear bomber get on the plane last Christmas?

Maybe Pug will drop in?

Interesting how quickly the naked body scanners were put in place after that DOTFA.

Chertoff was behind all of that.

Don't you see the progression of where things are going?

This whole thing with TSA is meant to restrict Air Travel and keep the sheep in place. Next is to restrict vehicle travel.

Bubble, bubble, bubble.....

VIPER Teams Patrol Mass Transit Facilities, Look For Susupicious Individuals

Associated Press/LESLIE MILLER | December 14 2005

Comment: More Charles de Menezes and Rigoberto Alpizar's in the making!

WASHINGTON - Federal air marshals are expanding their work beyond airplanes, launching counterterror surveillance at train stations and other mass transit facilities in a three-day test program.

As of Wednesday, the Transportation Security Administration said, teams of undercover air marshals and uniformed law enforcement officers were descending on bus stations, ferries and transit systems across the country to protect them from potential terrorists.

"We just want to develop the capability to enhance security outside of aviation," said air marshal spokesman David Adams.

Air marshals stepped outside of their usual role of flying undercover on airliners after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. They were sent to keep order at Louis Armstrong International Airport, where thousands of evacuees converged after the levees were breached.

The so-called "Visible Intermodal Protection and Response" teams ? or VIPER teams ? will patrol Amtrak's Northeast Corridor and Los Angeles rail lines; ferries in Washington state; bus stations in Houston; and mass transit systems in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore.

The teams will consist of two air marshals, one TSA bomb-sniffing-canine team, one or two transportation security inspectors and a local law enforcement officer.

Adams said there is no new intelligence indicating that terrorists are interested in targeting transportation modes.

Rather, the TSA is trying to expand the role of air marshals, who have been eager to conduct surveillance activities beyond the aircraft, and tighten security at public transit stations over the holiday.

Some members of the team will be obvious to the traveling public and wear jackets bearing the TSA name on the back. Others will be plainclothes air marshals scanning the crowds for suspicious individuals.

"TSA expects to find new ways to quickly deploy resources, in the event of an actual threat, that adds complexity to security measures outside of the aviation domain," the agency said in a statement.

Thousands of air marshals were rushed into service after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The service has been shunted among different agencies since then, starting out at the Federal Aviation Administration, moving to the TSA, then to Immigration and Custom Enforcement and, recently, back to the TSA.

Though the exact number of air marshals is classified, pilots estimate that they cover only a small percentage of flights. Efforts were made to expand coverage by cross-training other law enforcement officers to perform air marshal duties, but Congress put a stop to it.

Air marshals last week shot and killed a passenger in Miami who they said made a bomb threat.

The Washington Post first reported the deployment of the VIPER teams

A couple random things I've "heard" of late in regards to this issue, and thoughts that came to mind:

? Evidently the scanners do not pick up things that are hidden inside body cavities, so that would not protect us from small powder/gel packets, etc.

? Not all airports have the scanners, so I would assume at the other airports the pat downs would have to be mandatory, or random, or by the choice of the agents. Plenty or room for problems in those scenarios. Also, I could certainly see the fun in being a TSA agent at an airport if I could personally choose whom I patted down. Talk about a job perk...

? People are up in arms about the nun that was patted down. How do we know the person dressed up as a nun is really a nun? Seems like a great disguise, if that's your objective.

? I would really be concerned if I had a young daughter or son in the adolescent stage going through a pat down. That could put me over the edge.

? People are going to use this as something to bring attention to themselves, and I can't imagine flying this coming holiday. This could be total mayhem at some of these airports.

? How do you figure who pays for all this security, scanners, agents, etc? The airlines have it tough enough trying to survive, but they also have a responsibility to protect passengers. Tough call.

I don't know how I feel about all this. But I do know some people who are claiming about how they will never get over one of these pat downs are being ridiculous, IMO.
