nothing to write home about in the first round. other than cashing the game that i hit hard (east tennessee state), was coin-flippin' the rest.

saturday plays:
(2-lost) carolina over texas
(won) st.joseph/texas tech 1h under 68
(won) gonzaga/nevada over 147.5
(lost) gonzaga 2nd half (-9) over nevada

sunday plays:
(strong) pittsburgh (+2) over wisconsin
georgia tech (-5.5) over boston college
memphis (+6.5) over oklahoma state

played back some money on wisconsin (-1) (+101) over pitt.
hate the fact that theres some incredibly square people on other sites that have GOYs on pittsburgh. its making me have second thoughts considering the track record a few of em. so ill scale down the pittsburgh bet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
north carolina v. texas
really just feel north carolina is the better team right now. texas hasnt played a solid game in about a month (vs texas tech at home on 2/28). horns just digging themselves early holes in every game they play lately. carolina is a difficult team to play from behind. heels defense isnt the best, but theyre so explosive on offense that texas can ill-afford a slow start. i figured this line would be unc (-2) or (-2.5), so ive certainly got no problem in with the even up line. horns just cant shoot straight right now. theyve shot < 35% from the field in 3 of their L6 games. even worse, theyve shot 61% from the free throw line in those 6 games. i just dont like the way theyre playing. the talent is there, but they just seem to be regressing down the stretch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
gonzaga v. nevada
both teams played relatively low scoring first round games (nevada 72-66) (gonzaga 76-49). but both teams excel in transition, both teams shoot the ball well in from the field and from 3pt range, and both teams are awesome from the line (n-73%, g-75%). should be a west coast-style game. i think this one could be played in the high-70s/low-80s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pittsburgh v. wisconsin
im not gonna dive head-first off the panther bandwagon quite yet. im anything but a pittsburgh fan and i cant even recall betting a single game of theirs this season. but ill snag em as a 2pt dog here with a quickness and no shame. did they look good vs central florida friday night? absolutely not. but thats pittsburgh for ya. their style just is not conducive to opening cans of whoop ass on team. but their defense is simply incredible. theyve only allowed an opponent to shoot > 37% once in their last eight games. for whatever reason, wisconsin just isnt playing their trademark defense right now. 3 of the L4 opponents have shot > 43% from the field. and those opponents were richmond, michigan state, and minnesota. hardly scoring juggernauts. wisconsin is gonna have their pseudo-home court edge, but i just dont think its gonna be enough. i think the central florida game was an abberation for the panthers. theyre still legit
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
georgia tech v. boston college
this one comes down to firepower in my opinion. tech has it, boston college doesnt. not big on tournament chalk, but its justified here. tech definitely outclasses boston college athletically. eagles just havent faced this potent of an offense in weeks. for the last month, theyve been playing grind-it-out games. theres something to be said for defense, but i just dont see boston college getting it done here. i know everyone wants to point out their surge at the end of the season (theyve won 10 of their L12) but their big east schedule was backloaded with st.johns twice along with virginia tech, georgetown, and miami. ill lay it with the jackets

Badgers should have a bigger home-court advantage Sunday than they did tonight. I'm an alum so I'm not stupid enough to play the game on heart alone, but I just can't see how you can take the very few points.

I know it is only Saturday, but what do you think about GT/BC total at 135.

I think it is rather high. Also BC has went under their last 10, maybe more.

Good luck Gman!!!

definately like the NC play. They have to much talent and better perimeter shooting to overcome the Longhorns!!! Should be a great game though

Gman.

I really LOVE OSU TOM. PROBABALY GONNA BE MY BIGGEST PLAY IN A LONG TIME. WHY DO YOU LIKE MEMPHIS? I THINK THEY ARE YOUNG AND VERY OVERRATED. OSU IS EXPERIENCED AND HUNGRY?

wolfpacker:

i dont think boston college is going to be able to control the tempo, so i think that would make it tough for the game to stay under. really think is gonna do everything they can to get this game played in the 70s. youre right, bc is on a string of unders, but the teams theyve played have been slow-it-down kind of teams and i think those unders are a byproduct of the schedule

mistake finder:

i like memphis' athleticism and 3pt shooting. doesnt hurt that theyre a well-coached team too that physical, tough, and rebounds that ball well. they have everything thats needed to beat oklahoma state. is osu the superior team? absolutely. is osu capable of running away with this one? they might be. but if memphis plays a clean game, i think theyre a very live underdog. but thats just me

gonzaga 2nd half (-9)

* didnt plan on playing a side in this game. originally just intended to stick with the over. but ill bite on the zags. after seeing how much of an impact the pro-wisconsin crowd had one the badger comeback last night, we could see the same kind of push from the chalk here in the 2nd half. nevada is a damn solid team. but hoping the pseudo-home court edge plays a big role in the 2nd half. normally after refs drop 3 quick ones on a player (and make hit sit out an entire half), they overcompensate and give him the benefit of the doubt in the 2h. so im not worried about him fouling out early. zags very fortunate they have this one in seattle or theyd be on the ropes

gman2, I respect a lot your opinion thats why I am exposing my almost plays with you before I post them!!

MEMPHIS AND XAVIER ARE my almost HUGE PLAYS!!!
UAB AND VANDY are my almost big plays!!!!

like a lot the dogs tomorrow, sat was a damn dog day but I feel at least Memphis and Xavier have a big oppotunity of win the game, not just cover it!

I know Miss St is playing great but still not buy me, Xavier is in a great streak, big momentum and with the confidence to go very deep, they come back against Loui big and now the beleive, also could be a very close game and just cover the spread but I think they will win!

Memphis looks awesome against SC, very balanced, very hungry with big spectations and what I love, with a huge heart figthing for all the balls in all the situations, they can hit the 3's and ft's and go inside, very complete team and I think again they can and will win! :D

UAB huge game against Washington, of course PAC 10 was weak this season but Wash was the team with momentum in this tourney and UAB is a very athletic team, will cause a lot of problems to Kentucky just know how to Blow or how to Blew a game! they can win big, but are very vulnerable

Vandy very good team against a shaky NC St team right now, I will take my chances!

ILL/CINCY AND WISC/PITt I am away from this games, the BIG TEN is not that great and is not that predictible, also Cincy, the strongest team is Pitt, because Wisc out of town is very very weak, not so strong!

Pacific big game but is scaring the big game Kansas gave against Ill-Chi

well a lot of writting, waiting for your opinions :D

Javier :D

P.S. I wish you understand me!! not so good grammar!

javier:

thanks for the post. dont worry, your post came across fine. i agree on memphis and i will probably play them tomorrow morning. i think they can win straight up. i dont like xavier at all though. doesnt mean i like mississippi state (i dont) but i think xavier could be a little drained after all those games last week and then having to expend a lot of energy coming back against louisville. theyre on fire, but i think it could end sunday. vandy and uab, i have no opinion. i refuse to bet against kentucky anymore because they fu/ck me every time i bet on or against them this year. but i definitely like your memphis play and i will likely be playing them with you tomorrow. enjoy the games
