nothing to write home about in the first round. other than cashing the game that i hit hard (east tennessee state), was coin-flippin' the rest.
saturday plays:
(2-lost) carolina over texas
(won) st.joseph/texas tech 1h under 68
(won) gonzaga/nevada over 147.5
(lost) gonzaga 2nd half (-9) over nevada
sunday plays:
(strong) pittsburgh (+2) over wisconsin
georgia tech (-5.5) over boston college
memphis (+6.5) over oklahoma state
played back some money on wisconsin (-1) (+101) over pitt.
hate the fact that theres some incredibly square people on other sites that have GOYs on pittsburgh. its making me have second thoughts considering the track record a few of em. so ill scale down the pittsburgh bet.

north carolina v. texas
really just feel north carolina is the better team right now. texas hasnt played a solid game in about a month (vs texas tech at home on 2/28). horns just digging themselves early holes in every game they play lately. carolina is a difficult team to play from behind. heels defense isnt the best, but theyre so explosive on offense that texas can ill-afford a slow start. i figured this line would be unc (-2) or (-2.5), so ive certainly got no problem in with the even up line. horns just cant shoot straight right now. theyve shot < 35% from the field in 3 of their L6 games. even worse, theyve shot 61% from the free throw line in those 6 games. i just dont like the way theyre playing. the talent is there, but they just seem to be regressing down the stretch.

gonzaga v. nevada
both teams played relatively low scoring first round games (nevada 72-66) (gonzaga 76-49). but both teams excel in transition, both teams shoot the ball well in from the field and from 3pt range, and both teams are awesome from the line (n-73%, g-75%). should be a west coast-style game. i think this one could be played in the high-70s/low-80s.

pittsburgh v. wisconsin
im not gonna dive head-first off the panther bandwagon quite yet. im anything but a pittsburgh fan and i cant even recall betting a single game of theirs this season. but ill snag em as a 2pt dog here with a quickness and no shame. did they look good vs central florida friday night? absolutely not. but thats pittsburgh for ya. their style just is not conducive to opening cans of whoop ass on team. but their defense is simply incredible. theyve only allowed an opponent to shoot > 37% once in their last eight games. for whatever reason, wisconsin just isnt playing their trademark defense right now. 3 of the L4 opponents have shot > 43% from the field. and those opponents were richmond, michigan state, and minnesota. hardly scoring juggernauts. wisconsin is gonna have their pseudo-home court edge, but i just dont think its gonna be enough. i think the central florida game was an abberation for the panthers. theyre still legit

georgia tech v. boston college
this one comes down to firepower in my opinion. tech has it, boston college doesnt. not big on tournament chalk, but its justified here. tech definitely outclasses boston college athletically. eagles just havent faced this potent of an offense in weeks. for the last month, theyve been playing grind-it-out games. theres something to be said for defense, but i just dont see boston college getting it done here. i know everyone wants to point out their surge at the end of the season (theyve won 10 of their L12) but their big east schedule was backloaded with st.johns twice along with virginia tech, georgetown, and miami. ill lay it with the jackets
