Hello good folks of madjacks!
This message comes to you from my honeymoon in Anguilla. It rains about 1 day a month here. Rained today, will tomorrow, and the rest of our time here :sadwave: We may cut it a few days short in light of the situation and put it towards our next travel.
I'll make this brief because my wife is giving me evil eyes as she sees the madjacks logo on the lobby computer :mj07: I will respond more in depth and just skimmed it.
Since you said you went to a "cosmetic" dentist they probably charge more than your run-of-the-mill crown. With that said, a crown is only as good as the lab that makes them. For an all porcelain crown you would have on a tooth that shows up front it could cost upwards of 300 bucks for the dentist to have the lab fabricate it. Since he's a cosmetic guy he probably has a good lab and pays a high fee for his. The difference in quality is more than you think...in shading porcelain and stacking it for light to transmit to different depths, varying hues of porcelain is not easy. Lifetime will not happen. If you take good care 10+ years is doable but 6-10 as someone said regarding insurance estimates is likely.
One step up on my soapbox. 16k on teeth in 20 years. How much have you spent on cars in 20 years. WAY more than 16k. Can your car help you enjoy a steak in 20 years? I think not. Trust me, you do NOT want dentures. Regarding genetics and teeth...studies show nothing to do with it. I love when my redneck patients come in and say "my pappy and mammy always had soft teeth, and I do to". Cletis, meet the toothbrush and floss.
Shit, if you want a chicklet up front I'll be glad to hack away
I'll be back to my regular ranting at the end of my honeymoon. May be sooner than later due to the shitty weather.
Must go, wife muttering something about sex.
