I'm really upset about this crap. I don't even want to watch anymore if it continues. Something has to be done about it.

I wouldn't blame the refs too much. Blame the league office which alters the rules every year and create new "points of emphasis" that are largely subjective judgement calls that need to be made at live speed. The league is terrified of being bankrupted down the road by lawsuits stemming from long-term injuries and is trying to appear "proactive" about player safety with these rule changes, and the refs take the brunt of it from fans because they call ridiculous penalties (because their superiors tell them they have to).
