great selection for mccain and the right wing core of the party...this will be a close race and she is LT nra & por life..... could rally the wing too squeez out every vote & some new votes in vir, fla, ohio, nevada,nm & nh......looks like mccain moves to the right with her not the center.....is he going to make this election about guns, gay marriage, supreme court ? mother of 5, last child born with down syndrome in april, clearly puts the abortion issue up front.... she thinks alaska should be drilled.....she helps him unless you think he may not make 4 yrs......

"the bunker"
my gut is that this was a real longshot choice...and could backfire...

but, mccain sure sucked the air out of the denver...

honestly,if they were to win,i`d be worried about mccain keeling over early in his term and her having to take the reins.... but,i`m even more worried about obama getting the reins on day one...

but,i want to hear her speak and get more info before throwing her under the bus...

Polar bears aren't close to being extinct. They certainly aren't around in the numbers they once were, but no where close to being extinct. Please quit feeding into that rhetoric. I also don't know of any polar bear hunting in Alaska unless it involves natives with "traditional equipment".

your comment about aerial wolf hunting is also off base. Why do you think it's allowed? Do you even have a clue?? It's NOT for sport; it's a way to manage that population and prevent them from eradicating other big game species.

No, I have no clue. If you want to take that tone with me, then be prepared because I am pretty stubborn and don't back down easily.

Do you really think that polar bears aren't losing their natural habitat, and that it won't further be invaded by drilling off the coasts?

And do you really think that the majority of people who are using aerial hunting in Alaska are all doing it for prevention of wolf population and none of them for pure sport? Even if they are all doing it for population control, I don't believe that killing any living being in such a way it right. Perhaps we should do the same thing around the world to people, since we are overpopulated and food is scarce - just go in and shoot 'em up from the air.

I'm sure she is on the ticket for a few main reasons:

1) She is a woman and they think somehow this will attract all the "undecided" Hillary voters.

2) She is young and will offset McCain's ancient self.

3) She has a child with down syndrome, so now everyone can talk about how McCain was a prisoner and she is compassionate and pro-life. So their personal stories will make everyone slobber all over themselves.

Why so negative Hippo? Who would have been a better candidate? I think before you belittle her, at least learn about her background.
Biden is an expert in judgment, when it comes to foreign policies.. first he votes against the Gulf War, then he votes for the Iraqi war.

Wow :mj07: Did anyone hear Obamas camps statement, sour grapes..

is she ready to be commander and chief ?

Is Obama?

You had to love last night when he said he was gonna bring the 2 parties together. You have the #1 and #3 most liberal people in Washington on the same ticket. At least McCain has gone against his own party and the same with Palin.

She is the perfect candidate in my opinion. Obama just got a lot more votes - works for me.

I am going to look into her background more, but from what I know already, I don't like her.

First off I think Obama is the anti-christ

McCain is not far behind after picking this lady with 5 kids to be his VP. At this point I have no idea who I am voting for or if I will be voting at all.

geez, depressing day today as I was hoping for Mitt Romney

Same as me. I dont care for either candidate. Romney was my candidate as well. He just looks and talks like a politician. Would have been perfect to resurrect our economy. His religious background killed him.

None of the smart women.

to paraphrase Gov. Stevenson---she doesn't need the smart-women-vote, just a majority. :mj07:

from wiki:

Stevenson's wit was legendary. During one of Stevenson's presidential campaigns, allegedly, a supporter told him that he was sure to "get the vote of every thinking man" in the U.S., to which Stevenson is said to have replied, "Thank you, but I need a majority to win."

you're sinking down to the level of The Sponge, skulnik, and keeko today. Sad!

Is there ever a day that you can't keep me off of your mind? These little cheap shots day after day are they really necessary?

She looked uncomfortable up there. Voice cracked a few times, didn't really know how to handle the audience. Gotta love Obama who from day 1 said hes gonna run on class and no negative ads.. then bashes this lady right away.

Obama is uniquely qualifed to be president.. he went against the left last night in that speech...tax cuts for 90 % of working america....less abortion.....personal responsibility for fathers, families and all americans.... he said gov can't fix every proplem... he also said change doesn't come from washington..... he also said this election wasn't about him, that it was about the voters the american people....wasn't the most liberal speech I have ever heard....

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings. The insurgent presidential candidate shifted further to the left last year in the run-up to the primaries, after ranking as the 16th- and 10th-most-liberal during his first two years in the Senate.
