This just happened right across the street from my office...

http://abc13.com/news/hpd-suspect-standoff-comes-to-deadly-end/763930/

HOUSTON (KTRK) --
Houston police officers fatally shot a suspected burglar in his vehicle in southeast Houston this morning.

Police say officers began pursuing the suspect shortly after 8am in the 14200 block of the Gulf Freeway. After about 15 minutes, the chase came to an end when the suspect stopped on South Green at Fuqua. Police surrounded the vehicle, with guns drawn.

The standoff on the street lasted about 15 minutes. According to HPD spokesperson John Cannon, officers tried to talk with the suspect, as he got in and out of his vehicle.

A K-9 unit was brought in, and Cannon says that while officers were trying to defuse the situation, the man pulled out a large knife, and tried to attack the K-9. At that point, two officers fired shots, killing the suspect.

His identity has not yet been released.

I've never been able to get happy about someone dying. And it's too bad dozens of cops with training, tools and resources couldn't disarm 1 guy with a knife.... without killing him.
They should structure police bonuses around situations like this: avoid killing a suspect, even when justified, get a bonus.

Not saying they did anything wrong, buttt it's like going apeshit over a field goal, when we coulda had a justice touchdown.

A solid point here but at the same time if you are surrounded by dozens of cops with guns you might want to possibly consider leaving the knife in the car..... Oh yes and maybe rethink attacking the dog with said knife. I mean this is natural selection at its finest..

Also agree that yes obviously better this moron get it than a police dog but celebrating the death of anyone is a bit messed up

In my world killing or attempting to kill a human is about 10x more serious than attempting to kill a dog. That might run afoul of some serious dog lovers out there, but that's juts how my brain works. Particularly since a police dog can't take the stand in a criminal case. i.e I don't trust anyone in law enforcement who can't talk and be cross examined.

I love myself some Taco Hell, had some a week or two ago. Yum!!!

To be honest, I'd eat fast food more often if it didn't give me stomach aches from time to time.

The trick is going to the gym, you can run that crap off and the lifting is good for you too.....

Yuck
Not a fan of the Ol Jack in the box. Not since drunken late nights in college anyway. Dont they have In and Out Burgers in Houston?? They do here in Dallas. Or possibly Whataburger if you must eat fast food.

Try Del Friscos Double Eagle Steak House I know there is one down there. Also you must check out Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. The shrimp brochette or Salmon Yvett will change your life:SIB

If you ever make your way a few hours north to Dallas let me know.. There are many great restaurants. Bobs Steak and Chop House for example is nationally ranked but I dont believe there is one in H Town? Dont know? To damn hot down there

Cheers:0008

Agree, but past experience tells me you won't get much support around here.
