Thanks to Awbarn and LSwho preventing me from having a big week last Saturday. Was 7-5 for the day and now I'm Overall: 19-8-2; Sides: 8-4-1; Totals: 9-2-1; Teasers: 2-2.

Kentucky at Alabama and Awbarn at Vandy look to be the only decent match ups this weekend in the SEC. Hopefully the Tide can continue to follow the process and focus on a sneaky good Kentucky team this Saturday.

Looks like I have 6 plays this week... so far. :mj06:

Florida at Arkansas
On paper this looks like an absolute mismatch. Arkansas is just plain pathetic. Florida is just plain pissed off. I'm beginning to wonder if the ATL doesn't look a bit better to Head Hog Bobby Petrino. Last second victories over Western Illinois and Louisiana Monroe (5 points combined) followed up by asswhipings by Alabama and Texas (77 points combined) point to a very ugly year at Arkansas (0-8 in the SEC possibly). The Reptiles are a rather pedestrian 6-4 in their last 10 games and Urban Meyer held a rare Sunday practice this week to "shake things up" as he put it.

Arkansas has allowed more sacks than any other team in D-1 (17). Florida should be able to pressure QB Casey Dick all day as the running game of Arkansas is practically non-existent. Brandon Spikes leads the SEC in tackles per game this year and is seventh nationally with 11.3. The Hogs front five has to replace Ray Dominquez, who suffered an ankle injury last week and will be out for at least this week. That's not good news for Arkansas. Dick does lead the SEC in passing yards, but that's because Arkansas has had to play from behind in all four games this season. To further rub salt in the wound, the Hogs have given up more TDs on offense (3) than scored (2) in their past two games. QBs Dick and Tyler Wilson have combined to throw six TDs against six interceptions this season. I see multiple turnovers in the Hogs' future.

Tim Tebow finally found the endzone last weekend on the ground with two rushing TDs against Ole Miss. He also had his first 300+ yard passing game of the year and has yet to throw an interception, yet the Reptiles still lost. Florida's O-Line has some injuries and that will concern me next week, but not this week. The Reptiles had 20 plays over 10 yards last week against Ole Miss.

Arkansas has punted the ball 17 times this season. That's bad news since the Reptiles have Brandon James, who is the only player in the nation to return two punts for TDs this season.

Urban Meyer looks like a jerk and talks like a jerk, so I'm going to assume that he's a jerk. He will keep the pedal to the floor against an outmatched conference opponent. This will be ugly, it's just a matter of time.

Reptiles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games.
Razorbacks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

My prediction is Reptiles 45-14

My bet is Florida -24

South Carolina at Ole Miss

Oxford, Mississippi... home to William Faulkner, John Grisham and the Grove. One of the most beautiful college campuses I have ever visited. What does that have to with football? Well, Oxford is also home to a nut... Houston Nutt and he has changed the program's attitude in 5 short games. Coach "O" just didn't have what it took to coach in the SEC, but man could the guy recruit. All of the pundits said that whoever took over for Orgeron would inherit a lot of talent and Nutt certainly has.

The Head Ball Coach is playing musical QBs yet again with the Gamecocks. Redshirt freshman Stephen Garcia saw the most action last time out, completing 13-of-20 passes for 131 yards and rushing for another 86 against UAB. The three headed monster of QBs Smelley, Beecher and Garcia have combined for 11 interceptions. The biggest problem for the Cocks is O-line. It?s been miserable so far, while the Rebels are getting healthier and better on the defensive front. USC-East has only scored TDs on ten out of their 19 possessions in the red zone to go along with six field goals and thee turnovers.

The USC-East defense is No. 1 both in the SEC and nationally, allowing just 105.0 passing yards per game. It is also the only reason that the Cocks aren't 1-4 instead of 3-2.

Rebel QB Jevan Snead continues to be the SEC leader in TD passes, as his two against Florida raised his season total to eight scoring tosses. He also ranks third in the conference in passing average at 205.8 yards per game. WR Shay Hodge had a career-high 133 yards receiving on three catches against Florida. Hodge is now leading the Rebels in receiving yards and TDs.

Going into last Saturday, Florida had not committed a turnover all season. The Rebels forced three turnovers and pulled off the upset. Did I mention that the Rebels' Defensive Co-ordinator is Tyrone Nix? He spent the last three years in the same position at USC-East. Think he knows a thing or two about the HBC's offense?

This game has a feel of one team (Ole Miss) moving up in the league and the other (USC-East) going down. The Rebels are two plays from being undefeated. I like the Rebels at home. Hotty Toddy!

Ole Miss before playing Alabama are 9-1.
Ole Miss is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 home games.
USC-East is 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Rebels are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

My prediction is Rebels 27-13

My bet is Ole Miss -2.5

Kentucky at Alabama
Wow. I'm still in disbelief at how Alabama manhandled the Bulldogs last weekend in Athens. It looks like next year is this year. Will the Tide be caught sleeping against the Mildcats? I'm certainly not drinking the Kool-aid, but I do like what I see.

Kentucky is allowing a miserly 5.5 points per game this season. I don't care who you have played, that's impressive. But LB Micah Johnson and DT Ricky Lumpkin still are listed as doubtful for Saturday's game. Starting CB Ashton Cobb's suspension will continue after being arrested last week for second-degree stalking. RT Justin Jeffries will also sit out this week's contest after tearing his MCL. UK has definitely not faced an O-Line as tough as Alabama's.

On offense, the Mildcats haven?t been anything special after losing all the stars from last year?s team. Mike Hartline is in his first season as the starting QB. He had his best game against MTSU, completing 28 of 47 passes and two TDs. Dicky Lyons leads the SEC in receptions per game, catching 6.25 passes per game.

The Tide returns to Bryant-Denny after back to back road games having put 90 points on the scoreboard (49 and 41). Alabama's offense guided by senior QB John Parker Wilson and RBs Glen Coffee and Mark Ingram is averaging 215 yards on the ground and has rushed for a league-high 13 TDs - six shy of the team total from 2007. Coffee has 70 rushing attempts for 493 yards and four TDs and averages 98.0 yards per game, which ranks second in the SEC. True freshman Julio Jones leads the team in receptions (16), receiving yards (226 or 45.2 per game) and touchdowns (4). You can thank the Tides excellent O-line for those impressive stats.

Alabama is in the top 20 nationally in four defensive categories after five games this season. The Tide?s defensive front four should speed up the passing game a bit and force Mike Hartline's decision making. They have not allowed a point to be scored in the first quarter and the Tide has not trailed for one second this season. No team has yet had an answer for the big hoss in the middle, Tide NG Terrence "Mount" Cody. Alabama has held all five opponents in 2008 under 100 yards rushing this season, a streak that extends to six dating back to last year?s Independence Bowl vs. Colorado.

My main concern with the Tide is their Special Teams, especially kick coverage on both punts and kickoffs. They gave up a 95 yard punt return last week for a TD. P.J. Fitzgerald had a punt partially blocked, setting up a Jawga TD late in the third quarter. A 41-yard kickoff return set up the Dawg?s next score. They then recovered the onside kick and scored again to make it 41-30. UK leads the nation in kickoff returns, averaging 38.5 yards per return and the Mildcat's Derrick Locke had a 100-yard kickoff return vs. WKU. Definitely an advantage for UK.

I think it takes a near perfect game for Kentucky to pull the upset. After all, they have only beaten Alabama twice in school history (sorry to say I was in Lexington for the most recent). I also believe that 16.5 points is an awful lot of points to lay, even for a team as good as Alabama. Remember, UK did beat National Champion LSwho last year, so anything is possible.

You all know the drill by now, I rarely bet on the Tide and this week is no exception.

My prediction is Alabama 31-17

My lean is Kentucky +16.5

Awbarn at Vandy
Ranked for the first time in almost a quarter century, Vandy finds themselves in a very unusual place. Did I see Lee Corso near The Commons? Yes Virginia, you did. College GameDay has finally found their way to Nashville and Vanderbilt University.

From all reports, the initial returns of Awbarn OC Tony Franklin's spread offense are, well offensive. That game against UcheaT was almost unwatchable. Coach Tommy Tubberville said that the spread has been packed up and stored away for the foreseeable future. Awbie was held to a season low 226 yards last Saturday against an average UcheaT defense. RBs Brad Lester and Tristan Davis sat out last weekend against UcheaT with injuries should be available but both will be limited. Who is the QB this week Todd or Burns? Combined they have thrown 3 TDs and 4 INTs. The Barn has had a bit of a problem holding on to the ball with 11 turnovers on the year. Their offense isn?t going to suddenly explode for 50 points, and if it gets behind and has to start throwing, there will be problems. Why? Well....

The 'Dores lead the nation in turnover margin forcing 10 turnovers and only losing five fumbles. The defense bends, but so far does not break. Vandy is giving up a hefty 364 yards per game, but only allowing 17 points per contest. Ryan Hamilton's three interceptions lead the SEC. Patrick Benoist is averaging 9.3 tackles per game, which is No. 2 in the SEC. Senior Reshard Langford (considered one of the top NFL safety prospects) is living up to his hype making 25 tackles along with two interceptions.

The Vandy quarterbacks have yet to throw an interception this season. QB Chris Nickson was injured against the Rebels but used the bye week to recover. He has 3 TD passes against 0 INTs and has rushed for 5 TDs. Receiver George Smith is back from a stress fracture in his foot. The senior is a productive third receiver who has yet to play a game this season. The 'Dores are averaging 29.8 points and 202.0 rushing yards per game and have more than three times as many rushing attempts as passing attempts this season (175 to 57).

For War Eagle on defense, Sen'Derrick Marks leads the SEC and ranks tied for 15th nationally with eight tackles for loss, including two sacks. Marks now has 28 tackles for loss during his career. Antonio Coleman has four sacks in Auburn's first five games to lead the SEC.

On Special Teams, Vandy Junior D.J. Moore is the nation?s leading punt returner averaging 29 yards per try. 'Dores PK Bryant Hahnfeldt has connected on all seven of his FG attempts, including three from beyond 40 yards. Just as importantly, he showed he can get the job done in late-game pressure situations by connecting on two fourth-quarter field goal attempts against Ole Miss. Look for him to take advantage of any opportunities he gets to put points on the board.

Awbarn PK Wes Byrum has connected on just five of nine FG attempts and has missed his last three attempts, including a 35-yarder that sailed wide left last week against UcheaT.

Unless there are some wild plays in this game, I think it will be a low scoring slug fest. Remember, Awbarn could only score 3 points at Mississippi St., and WON. Of course, when you think that there is NO WAY it can go over, it usually does. I see Vandy playing tough, but they are not used to being under the spotlight and the center of national attention. As much as I want Vandy to win and all trends do lean to Vandy, I think that Awbie wins and barely covers. Bottom line is that this will be an ugly game and Tommy Tuberville specializes in winning ugly games.

Tigers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games.
Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
'Dores are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
'Dores are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 conference games.
'Dores have won 3 games SU as underdogs this season.

My prediction is Awbarn 20-17.

My lean is Awbie -4

Northern Illinois at UcheaT
It wasn't that long ago that the Huskies went on the road to an SEC school as a big underdog and went on to shock the football world with a win at (gulp) Alabama. Can that happen again? Considering the sorry condition of UcheaT's offense, I say yes.

UcheaT can't afford to look past anyone right now, even if UGA is on the horizon. The Phat one is under extreme pressure from fans to get things turned around PRONTO on Rocky Top. The role of QB is yet to be known for the Viles as Fulmer opened up the competition again this week.

UcheaT currently is tied for 101st in scoring offense with 19.3 points per game. Arian Foster has only gained 67 yards on 22 carries the past two games while fumbling three times and not finding the endzone. He is 421 yards from being the Vile's all-time leading rusher. At this pace he needs another 14 games this season! How lost did QB Jonathon Crompton look last Saturday at Awbarn? Consider CBS Analyst Gary Danielson's commentary, "Crompton had no where to go with the ball, I guess you?re not supposed to throw it down the middle to a wide open man in the endzone." It can't get any worse for the Big Orange and in my opinion that's a shame.

For the Huskies of NIU, Defensive end Larry English won the 2007 Vern Smith Award as the Most Valuable Player in the Mid-American Conference. The senior led the MAC in sacks last season and ranked 11th nationally. He is a member of the Bronko Nagurski Watch list for the second consecutive season. The Huskies D-Line is very capable of getting into the Viles backfield and causing some problems.

NIU's offense has scored at least 26 points in each game this season and the QBs have 6 TDs versus 2 INTs so far. The Huskies average just over 384 yards per game and are scoring an average of 34.5 points per game. DeMarcus Grady leads NIU with 3 TDs.

UcheaT's Wes Brown and Ellix Williams are the only two D-Linemen with 10 tackles this season. The Viles defense only allows 258 yards per game. Eric Berry has seven career interceptions (two this season). He has 21 tackles this season.

The Huskies will face their toughest D-Line to date against the Viles. NIU is two defensive stops from being undefeated and both losses came on the road at Minnesota and Western Michigan. Meanwhile, UcheaT still has that horrible loss at UCLA hanging over it's head. While more competitive last weekend, I attribute that more to Awbarn's sucky spread offense more than anything. Enjoy the win this Saturday Vile fans. UGA and Alabama are up next and it's gonna get a whole lot uglier (if that's possible) before it gets better. Me thinks you are also stuck with the Phatass as reports say a buyout of his contract would cost UcheaT at least $6M. :mj07:

Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games.
Huskies are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Huskies are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

My prediction is UcheaT 24-16

My bet is Northern Illinois +16.5

And now for something we hope you'll really like... this week's totals....

Florida at Arkansas.... O/U 57
Just like last week, I think that Florida could get all of the points necessary to make the Over good. Arkansas will score just enough for me to confidently take the over.

Over is 6-1 in Gators last 7 conference games.
Over is 5-1 in Razorbacks last 6 games overall.

My bet is OVER 57

South Carolina at Ole Miss.... O/U 43.5
South Carolina is horrible on offense. They could possibly have three QBs play this weekend. Fortunately for them they have a stout defense. For the over to hit, I think Ole Miss needs to score 4 TDs. Against a very good USC-East "D" I don't know if that happens. I'm going to back off my play and make this a lean.

My lean is UNDER 43.5

Kentucky at Alabama.... O/U 45.5
Bama's defense is just too good and even if they Mildcats can stop the Tide, they won't all day. Love the under, but it's a lean. I rarely bet the Tide.

My lean is UNDER 45.5

Auburn at Vanderbilt.... O/U 37.5
Here's a game that should definitely go Under. Awbie's offense is putrid and Vandy struggles to move the ball. Definitely an anti-trend play. That's why I'm on the OVER.

Under is 9-1-1 in Commodores last 11 conference games.
Under is 6-1 in Tigers last 7 games overall.
Under is 9-3 in Tigers last 12 conference games.

My bet is OVER 37.5

Northern Illinois at Tennessee.... O/U 44.5
I really like the UNDER play here. UcheaT is really struggling to put points on the board and I don't think that NIU will score more than 17 points on the Viles. Like this game to say in the mid to upper 30s.

Under is 5-1 in Volunteers last 6 games overall.

My bet is UNDER 44.5

:director: Strike that editted, I agree with you on Alabama as well...kurby

Alabama comes out weak and winded, and wins (maybe) but not until the second half and not by more than 10 against a formidable Kentucky team... This kentucky team is power ranked in most of the rankings out there...
Kentucky + points :toast:

I love the UF play as much as i am an FSU fan money is money UF is 6-0 in the last 6 against the spread against arkansas plus i think they come out trying to score all they can to try to get the best BSC ranking they can get. Sunday practice shows that urban really wants this game and Arkansas is the worst team in the SEC so far. This will probably be the top play of the weekend and if UF dont cover they will still be the team i HATE the most. UF -25 :00hour :00hour almsot sounds golden.. Hope i dont jinx anyone:scared
