June 8, 2013 is our big day.

I have no idea what I've gotten myself into. We sat down last night to start working on an invitation list so we could get an idea of how big a reception hall we would need to rent, etc. I told Teresa it would be close to 400 and as of this morning it's 446 and climbing. :scared

some of that is avoidable....

put down the bottle...she will have nothing to complain about....

a person will save money with not drinking, allowing them to pay more bills, and afford more useless shit....

just an idea :toast:

had 350 people at my wedding....

and we kept it under $8,000, and still managed to have a wonderful wedding/reception....

You may be extremley well off, and have a father-n-law who loves spending money, but we were not so fortunate.

we had help paying with a lot, but neither of our families are loaded. they are all mostly school teachers, and you know how that goes. Why pay the people educating our children and our future much less then a man playing football....haha jk, but honestly we were not rich by a long shot, so did all we could to conserve money....if you need some ideas, hope these help. if your loaded and money is not an issue, well ill take Chicken for dinner, and rum-n-cokes all night :toast:

Do not have an open bar,
just buy kegs for everyone, and allow them to buy their liquor. will save you about 5,000 dollars man...and fuck it if people dont want the free beer, they can pay for it....

reccomend a buffet style dinner
if you are worried about saving money...we had it professionally done, and the food was still amazing. plenty of good, tasteful, succesful, and AFFORDABLE places out there that will do it for roughly 10$ a plate compared to 50% a plate at some places....

hire a wedding decorator that is just starting off. we found this out from a tv show. they reccomend hiring someone in their first 2 years of doing it, because their prices are much lower for obvious reasons (if wifey is concerned about how it will lookk, they all keep pictures in an album)

Find cool wedding party gifts online
go to google, type in cool wedding party gifts. I found a site that had all kinds of sports and booze ideas for your wedding party gifts. I got everyone flasks with their favorite sports team logo and their names for under $20 dollars a piece....

find a friend who can DJ .
I was lucky here. my brother has done it for years...he has a lot of people he knows who are great at it...

Photographer....
this is the one i said fuck it, I AM PAYING FOR THE BEST...the pictures are the one thing that will allow you to remember and relive this night forever. I paid way to much for a photographer, but my wife was happier then ever, and the pictures were amazing....i think this one was worth the extra money...

like i said, these are just some things that helped us save on money for the wedding/reception.

if your not worried about expensives, well forget it all....

regardless, i am happy for ya because from your reputation around here, i am sure your a great guy, and found a great girl...

congrats and good luck with everything...

now, if you werent a damn BAMA fan everything would be ok :toast:

Addict, really appreciate the input. :0008

Believe me neither one of us is well off when it comes to money. My parents both passed away over 20 years ago. Her parents are lucky to have a pot to piss in so I will be footing the bill.

Fortunately for me I'm marrying a wonderful yet simple woman. The only thing that she has requested is that I wear a tux and she gets to wear a dress. She could care less if we have our ceremony in a church, outside, wherever. Flowers and all of the extra stuff isn't important so that makes me happy.

As much as I would love to have an open bar I just can't afford that luxury. Will get a bunch of keg beer and like you said if they want something else then they can buy it.

I am fortunate to know LOTS of people and have several friends who are photographers, cake bakers, DJs, etc. so I should not be paying top $$$$ for any of those items. Teresa is incredibly talented when it comes to crafts and we will not have any shortage of help when it comes to decorating.

My main issue is finding some place big enough to host this shindig. I've been told that usually about half of the people invited to a wedding will show up, but since I know half of the town and always swore I would never get married, my guess is that if we invite 500 we should expect at least 400 to show. I've been told that the American Legion here in town has a party room that will accommodate 300 people; but they can open up the side doors that lead outside, put up a big tent and seat as many as necessary. $600 room rental and I know a few friends over there that can probably take care of me. Only drawback is that we have to use the folks that run the restaurant as our caterer. We are also considering renting two large tents and having the reception at my golf course.

We were going to run off and get married then have a huge party when we got back, but I am leaning towards getting married locally.

Still a long way away but never too early to start making plans.
