You need to have the ball sent in to be authenticated. This will bring max value but the cost will eat into your profits.

agree with this,,and agree STRONGLY that Rose is a HOF,,Bet a friend of mine 100 dollars he would get in before one of us dies,,That was like 20 years ago,,still waiting,,hahahaha:popcorn2

I bought the ball and will have it on Friday per ups tracking. I am not an autograph collector, nor do i own any sports memorabilia. I am from brooklyn originally, so am definitely not a fan of the red sox. Still, I couldn't resist to bid on the ball, as it stirred fond memories for me.....My first memories, really. The mid to late 70s was a time when everyone in my extended family rooted for the yanks. I was 4-6yo, so clearly not in tune with the intricacies of the sport, but baseball was my life at that time. It meant everything to my grandma and her siblings. They listened to yank games daily on radio, watched whenever possible, and argued baseball rabidly every single day. My 96yo great aunt is the lone survivor of that generation of my family. She always stood out to me because she was a diehard Bosox fan. It was always her against the room. I can't wait to show her the ball.

I purchased for double my original offer, but will not reveal the figure for the sake of the young man's privacy. I have no idea of the actual value of the ball, nor do I intend to have it appraised.

Just so you know Cie, Trev's Nana (My Mom) turned 88 on Sunday so your story hit home to him....He really enjoyed telling her the story of the ball, the interest in it and why it was heading South.....For a 12 yr old he had everyones attention telling it....:0008

He still doesn't understand why your Great Aunt would live in NY being a Sox Fan......
