I bought the ball and will have it on Friday per ups tracking. I am not an autograph collector, nor do i own any sports memorabilia. I am from brooklyn originally, so am definitely not a fan of the red sox. Still, I couldn't resist to bid on the ball, as it stirred fond memories for me.....My first memories, really. The mid to late 70s was a time when everyone in my extended family rooted for the yanks. I was 4-6yo, so clearly not in tune with the intricacies of the sport, but baseball was my life at that time. It meant everything to my grandma and her siblings. They listened to yank games daily on radio, watched whenever possible, and argued baseball rabidly every single day. My 96yo great aunt is the lone survivor of that generation of my family. She always stood out to me because she was a diehard Bosox fan. It was always her against the room. I can't wait to show her the ball.
I purchased for double my original offer, but will not reveal the figure for the sake of the young man's privacy. I have no idea of the actual value of the ball, nor do I intend to have it appraised.
