Kosar, Annie's not the only female suffering out here! I feel left out and it's not nice to be excluded. If it seems I'm a little sensitive, well so be it!

I'm 48 and had been smoking for 32 years. I've earned the right to be a bitch and I deserve it! Besides, it's fun to have an excuse other than hormones for my poor attitude ! :)

Snober Time: 3d 13h 6m 49s
Amount Saved: $8.33
Cigarettes not Smoked: 70
Life Saved: 5h 50m

Jack, isn't the garage a part of the house? If the rule is no smoking in the house, why is there still smoking in the garage? Time to move the butt bucket outdoors and welcome the rain/snow!

Congratulations to everyone!! Give yourselves big hugs and kudos for making it 3 days! Keep up the good work!

A question to those who are born-again non-smokers.... how long does it take before that automatic reach for a cigarette first thing in the morning goes away?

Sorry VA Nurse, I should have looked at the roster a little more closely. Good luck to you also!

I am going to say 'good luck *people*' from now on and that should cover it. Hopefully, anyways.

Thank you! :)

(That should cover all of us except BTJ and I don't think he's participating anyway!)

i haven't done that in over 2 years because i cough so badly in the morning i CAN'T smoke until that spell is over and it usually lasts for 30-45 minutes. THEN i want a smoke.

NOW, i don't cough at all in the morning and i don't WANT a smoke.

hopefully i stick to this because i feel better already. fuk the urges.

Haha,

Thank you for the gesture VA!!

Keep up the good work. It has been a year and a half for me, and I have STILL caught myself reaching for a cigarette while driving :scared Not the first thing in the morning deal but I never smoked till I left the house or was up for at least an hour. I woke up in the middle of the night and was physically going through the motion of smoking, I was dreaming of laying by a pool and lounging and had my head tilted way back and was smoking away  Guess what, that was about 6 months into quitting. Another thing that is really weird is I can smell a cig from like a mile away now. I hate being around 2nd hand smoke at all as it makes me sick but for example yesterday I was out walking the dog and I could smell a freshly lit smoke. Dam it smelled good and I could feel my body craving it, I walked at least 8 or 9 houses before I saw the guy who was smoking, it was a guy working on the roof of a house but no shit it was like 200 yards away :mj07: That nicotine is some addictive shit!

Sorry to report i chose to surrender this battle today..... i have NOT yet lost the war tho!!!!

Stress isn't a good excuse, but it's the only thing i can blame it on right now besides WEAKNESS!!!!! (so for the sake of arguement, i'm gonna blame STRESS) ;)

I have now set my own target date (if's). Which hopefully will leave me going into it stronger willed than having a target date set for me.

Target date 1: If there is a first day on my first choice of jobs.

Target date 2: If and when i am able to find someone from my past, and burned bridges are still repairable. (unfortunately, don't know if he'll ever speak to me again) AND if he has quit smoking, which he spoke of doing, otherwise i probably wouldn't even want to quit.

Target date 3: April 29th (my sons b-day)

Target date 4: not willing to mention in here, but if it comes up before any of the other 3 target dates, i'll be sure and mention when i go back on the wagon.

Apoligies for my weakness, but being a wreck and not smoking at the same time don't seem to mix. :(

That being said: ALL THE REST OF YOU GUYS/GALS HANG IN THERE!!! , and i'll be back to join you.

Day 4.. Wow!!! What a day!

I've only had 3 gums today. I'm not fighting the urges and am just taking the gum but I think its ok for me right now. I just want to get by the first week or two with the few gums I do have and then cut that out.

I went to a meeting this morning and my bosses boss seen me with my gum and asked for one. I told him it was nicroette gum and was happy I made the choice and sat me down for a story. He told me he lost his mom to cancer and when that happened, he quit too. He said it was real tough for him (2 pack a day) before his mom's passing but said after she passed it was so easy he didn't believe it. My explaination to him was, quitting smoking is really not as difficult as it seems IF you want to quit smoking. If there is even a 1% feeling that you don't want to quit, its hard.

Today has been easier than yesterday because I never ever want to smoke and hearing the story today was just 1 more reason that smoking has no positive sides to it.

I AM NOT A SMOKER!!!

rock2

Just talked to my old boss in OKC that had a laser treatment, still working for him and a guy that flew from Denver to OKC for the treatment. He told me his laser treatment was directed at different points all over his body, cost him $300.00.

Initially consultation of 1 hour, then two treatments and a third if necessary within 30 days...he didn't need the 3rd treatment. He told me he knew about a dozen people in the OKC area that have had the treatment, hasn't worked for about half of them.

Told him what I am trying to accomplish and he is going to check with his Dr and let me know tomorrow if there is laser treatment in my area, probably Miami. He said it was the best $300 he has ever spent.

Day off again today, no coffee, no cigs and man I am fuggin tired, back to work tomorrow through the weekend. Work with a non-smoker tomorrow and smokers Sat and Sun...yesterday was worse than today and today wasn't easy...

HANG IN THERE EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!

Well folks,
You are home free....Non-smokers forever.
Now I know this because I remember that there was NO WAY that I would suffer that long (four days) and NOT succeed....sure enough it got easier once it really became CRYSTAL CLEAR in my mind, that I was a non-smoker and wasn't going back....I remember initially having my doubts...about success..cuz its just so damned easy to fail and fill your lungs with what you crave...but after a few days..I just knew damned well that soon I would be totally free. Too hard to accomplish several days to give up...being so so close to success..............................BE STRONG
You folks are doing something BIG for yourself and YOUR FAMILY
BE PROUD....
Jack, Be a model for your mom and wife.......they'll join you....its tough but you show them the way...... GOOD LUCK ALL
This many quitting successfully is remarkable!!!! Outstanding!

Stay strong, everyone! I like the positive vibes!

Keep in mind, though, that once you are a NON-SMOKER, then you NEVER take a puff, smoke one with the boys, take your anger out on one.... NOTHING!

It's been over 5 months for me now, and I still catch that little ****ing voice in my head every now and then in the right situation telling me that I can handle smoking only one.

That should tell everyone how bad this shit is for them.

Great job!

We are not smokers!
